Back to WW's post & question - as the thread doesn't appear to have been started to discuss other turbos so much. The reason I brought up Peninsular's long experience with their marine engine packages is this:
Try to think of any other 6.5 parts vendor that has Peninsular's degree of...
Don't think getting 3.42 R&P for that dually 14 bolt/10.5 is a problem. There are 2 carrier sizes - catalogs list the ratio break - if it happened to originally have 4.56:1, that carrier won't fit the 3.42 or 3.73 ring gears - think the break is 4.10, 3.73, & 3.42 is the smaller carrier, then...
Doesn't his 225 RWHP on an inertial/Dynojet chassis dyno agree pretty well with 275-300 flywheel hp & normal driveline losses? Perhaps I misinterpret the "..."
My post was simply responding to WW's original post inquiring if anybody knew anything about the non-gated turbo Peninsular offers...
Around 18,500 lbs = truck, trailer, & load (retaining wall blocks). Trailer weighs ~ 5400 - well built trailer, but PJ's newer designs are more efficient/lighter.
And yes, they were strapped down front to back better than this pic when on the road.
Exactly why I suggested speaking with Matt. They've got years of experience selling 6.5 engine packages that they've got to stand behind/warranty - the entire engine.
Bigley's/The Diesel Page 6.5L Turbo Diesel - Volume II had an article on a 6.5 build by Andrew Ashwill back in the day...
Peninsular has been offering a non-wastegated turbo kit for the 6.5 diesels for many years - long before the ATT. Peninsular has decades of experience with non-gated turbo applications on the 6.5 diesel - relating to their marine engine business. Rather than guessing about flowrates, call...
I like the quick response of mechanical gauges, but have found a small issue that an electric water temp gauge would avoid.
I get a little injector noise carrying in on my mechanical coolant temp gauge, via the copper capillary tube. Sender is in the right-hand cylinder head's temp sensor...
I run a set of General AT-2's in 285/75-16 in the D range so fairly similar. Absolutely agree with the harder compound & stiffer sidewall comment. I could live with the stiffer sidewall & gain the bumper trailering stability you get from the stiffer sidewalls. But I've yet to drive a set of...
I realize this won't help for applications where the turbo is being mated directly to the intake, but here's a way to get OEM level connection reliability when going to a FMIC. Lots of those HX35W outlet elbows floating around & they make a nice smooth transition out to 3" IC plumbing.
As War Wagon notes, the camper & RV industry primarily uses 5th wheels.
The common B&W turnover ball gooseneck hitches conveniently allow flipping over/storing the ball mount flush with the bed so there's little impact on bed use. Some 5th wheel mounts compromise bed use unless you remove them...
Here are some pics I collected a while back. The yolk/dampener is obvious. Believe the others are just different views of the 4x4 dampener by itself, shown on the shaft, then inside the housing, etc.
Here's a GM document that I think covers: internal damper is for 4x4 trans btwn trans & transfer case, yolk dampener is for 2WD NV4500.
You can read the whole document, but here's the relevant part regarding where the new dampener goes when replacing a DM with SM flywheel.
4-WHEEL DRIVE...
Believe my '95 came with a dual-mass, but had been switched to single-mass flywheel with the matching sprung clutch hub. But I don't believe mine has the damper on the output shaft that GM used when they stopped using dual-mass flywheels. Think I've got a pic of this part at home if you're...

If going very far, it was probably a good choice to go with the other lights over the Harbor Freight mag-base lights. I've got that HF mag-base set, just for when in a pinch. Like finding equip going too cheap to pass up at an auction, but it's dark by haul home time.
The HF mag-base lights...
My experience with the aftermarket glow plug relays has been they're just not as durable as what GM put on them originally.
With a little lower compression than stock, I use extended glow plug time when it gets below ~ 32 degrees. When I built the engine, I replaced the truck's (quite...
