If you want a quick and cheap temp gauge that works good, you can go to AAP and get Bosch gauges. You could take out the dash gauge sensor in the front of the block and install the new temp gauge there for now. I have 2 Bosch boost gauges that I use. 1 for reading boost and 1 for reading fuel...
If you have to get in the dash to look into if you have a door problem please take some pictures while you are in there. I don’t think this forum has many pictures of that kind of stuff
