It is a short list. It will probably be a never ending list since my mind is always wondering how I can make it a little better. :banghead:

Just about ready to fire up. The fuel system is primed up to the injectors. It is truly amazing how fast a Powermaster starter turns these engines over. I was so used to the classic 6.5 engine cranking sound/speed. It doesn't sound like the same engine. Things left to do before the clatter...

I don't see this getting put back together by late spring. Is it spring already? The yellow trophy cracks me up!

    Electric Fan clutch

Thank you for clarifying that. I see the electrical drawing indicated it as a heater, but I was unsure after researching the wrong information. I was watching a different youtube video and he was talking about a solenoid inside the clutch assembly. I thought it was a little too small in there...

I agree that the factory firewall mats are crap. I can't bring myself to toss out the center thick mats that are directly behind the engine. I actually recovered mine with thin fiberglass to improve the looks and keep them from disintegrating. How difficult are the evaporators to do on...

How did the firewall insulation look? It seems to be the first thing to fall apart on these trucks. Are the evaporator lines cut off?

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Nice score! I dropped my engine in today and did a new heat wrap job to my oil cooler lines where they pass close to the exhaust manifold.

I got the oil pump primed and made some new heat protecting covers for the oil cooler line before dropping the engine in today. The engine lift plate made by Quadstar Tuning is very nice to work with. I hope that from now in it collects dust while sitting on a shelf. Unless of course I need to...

Got the engine bay prepped for install. If everything goes well there should be a 6.5 in this hole tomorrow.

    Electric Fan clutch

In case anyone was curious as to how these work or the wiring. Here is a wiring diagram. In the OEM design they were controlled by the ECM and a solid state relay to pulse the 12 volts on and off to control the fan speed. Zoomed in a little Here is a Youtube video explaining how the clutch...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Yesterday I pushed it outside to de-grease and powerwash the engine bay. You guys like to talk go fast stuff? This is the car that you can see the front end of in some of the photos I post. 4.6L 281 cubic inches

This is a drone photo of Kalamazoo after Nate drove the Tahoe down the road the first time after the frame blasting. Let me know if you need someone to keep the Omega Moose warm for you. I hate to see that pump sit on the shelf and get cold.

    Project "Johnny Cash"

I have used POR 15 on my truck. It is the only product that I have used so I can't say its the best. I will say that it's not the best for bare metal or parts that are not rusty. IIRC there is a note in the instructions to rough up bare metal with a certain grit or surface finish. I have sprayed...

Exhaust manifold bolts, whats the odds ?

Could you use a candle or something under your truck as an ignition source for your torch and bring the torch down to it from above like you were describing? The candle would be pretty worthless afterwards. The exhaust manifold bolts are fairly stout. I have not personally broken one and mine...
