@Will L. actually to your post 6 that was the plan if the direct injection project worked well and we could get it through the EPA EV-CIS program of which we are a manufacturer member.
If it did not work then drop in the E85 Vortec we have SUPERCHARGED and keep calm and carry on with a larger...
@Bezzer I looked again at the battery test. Battery 2 tested at "0 CCA" - Charge required. That is not good. It could be mechanically soundbut dry or badly sulfate. It will fall flat under load. The other appears to have 12.46 volts. 12.3 is considered dead. If they are old and you want...
@jrsavoie - You asked, I answered, and it works great.
You wrote "So, not flow through on fail" and while I do not know what that means - my lift pump never failed,, they just get real weak to produce pressure so I swapped them.
The last thing one wants is a DS4 trying to suck fuel when it...
Yeah I know stanadyne wants to kill this thing as hard as they can
There was a "ULSD kit" in a service bulletin posted here at https://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/stanadyne-technical-bulletin-on-grey-pmd-and-ds4-ip.27059/
With proper fuel pressure there are no PMD issues really so I will...
@jrsavoie I use the Sure Cure Lift Pump Solution which is an axial Dodge Ram pump 1999-2000 I believe adapted on both ends to plumb into the 6.5 without cutting any lines. You can Google the name or find it on eBay as a kit or partial kit
Been using it for 8 years, and when they get weak and...
OK IF you have a 611 DB2 much of what I wrote does not apply. It will inject on crank, but fuel pressure affects the timing (cold start) and hence ease of starting.
"Maintence free" battery does not not mean anything but STILL could be low amp cranking, however not knowing what they...
Really - 4 psi is just killing the IP.
Get a lift pump that can push 15 psi regulated and the problem will go away.
I saw IP come into the shop all time for rebuild running low fuel pressure with scratches all on the internals.
5 psi regulated + or - 1% is the test spec minimum the IP...
4 psi - not enough and why it cuts out. You are also killing the IP because there is not enough pressure for immersion lubrication.
Will L said how 8 psi is not enough because on acceleration it drops may be into vacuum
Nothing wrong with the IP yet, but get a real lift pump. That...
Even NEW the OEM solenoid pumps are worthless usually now-a days
The engine can be gotten running with even bad timing. A KOKO procedure is needed to to relearn everything and set timing. It took my engine from - 75 crappy doggish to - 1.25 way better running and instant starting.
Lots...
I do not see where the KOKO procedure was done after the IP and CPS install. That MUST be done after getting the engine up to operating temp
It you have lift pump pressure like 15 psi these systems will bleed themselves
See my posts starting at...
I would bet bad fuel and weak lift pump. That which you describe is what mine did. Even weak lift pump and algae.
But first has anyone done the KOKO procedure to set the timing.???
There is a PC program that can read the timing - the name eludes me right now
It could also be a leaking or...
I drive a van. I had the same problem basically twice. The first time was the map sensor. The second was a melted vacuum line that laid on the intake. When cold it worked fine when hot intermittent. I replaced them with small copper tubing with hose only at both ends.
The 2002 is no...
I have been driving a 97 similar setup for 12 years.
Don't know how old your batteries are or their type - flooded, agm,, marine deep cycle or a combination agm / marine flooded mod, BUT...
you wrote
"loose 1 volt when the glow plugs are on. When I go to start the engine the voltage is...
Does anyone has real knowledge of if a DS4 can tolerate E85 or gasoline. The DB2 military with arctic kits could. There was an Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel kit was an answer for low lubricity diesel
Does anyone actually know??? (A rebuilder maybe)
No, it is not for vehicles with a fuel line mod. They would not sell it to you and would not honor the warranty
You can make something up on your own if you want I suppose.
Maybe Rockabillyrat can help?? See...
What I was saying a while back was the same. The 5/16 line is stock. You showed why GM did this which I knew. But my point was modding the line to 3/8 without a better lift pump would drop pressure though increase volume capability on the same pump. You said this exactly what GM did in...
Fuel Solenoid at the back is not the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid which stands up on the front. So... No
The DS4 Service Manual is hard for many people to understand.
The way to understand it is the Fuel Solenoid is the throttle. The rest if the IP is the carburetor. When there is insufficient fuel...
I used a Holly Blue knock-off once in testing. It worked but was noisy on the rail and maxed out at 14 psi, but without a regulator it surged to idle speed and the idle speed surged because of it
I am not going to go there. I have seen plenty of DS4 with burnt up fuel solenoids. What do you think happened when it starved trying to just keep an idle?? Have read your own motto in your profile that says "SlIgHtLy Stupid".??
