Hi all, first time posting on the duramax side of the forum. I bought my truck just over a month ago and I love it. I do however have one question
I drove in my buddies truck that is identical to mine in every add on apart from he is running efi live and I have the power pup that came with the...
My 06 is much better than my fathers 05 in that department. I did the 06 intake upgrade and maf reflash on my dads rig and that helped/stopped his overheating problems. I am sure he doesn't tow as heavy as you do though. My old truck did great towing considering what was done but I found myself...
I never thought I would get rid of it either. Funny enough the guy who bought it is in my neighborhood so I do see it often. I told him flat out if I ever see it trashed I will find him and kick his :mooning:. It was like giving a child up for adobtin though. Not something I wanted to do but...
The power out of these trucks is amazing. And reliability. My dad has an 05 and its a big reason I upgraded.
It's been great talking to you and everyone else on here. This place is the reason I was able to do all I did to my rig. I bought it not knowing a thing.
I will be around. I don't know...
It was my first and only truck. I cried when it drove away, literally. It killed me to sell it. I bought it 8 years ago last month and sold it on the 26th. Had it sitting with a for sale sign in the window for 2 hours when the guy came and test drove it, and he picked it up the following...
"Someday" is the keyword. I spent 8 years on my rig and there was always something to do. Now its moved on to be someone else's project. Its the joy of being a mechanic. People always thought my truck was falling apart because I worked on it so much. It was always me just tinkering :D
If memory serves Heath suggests this only to have the computer run its initial diagnosis/communications processes. He also suggest doing the TCDO after install.
Sounds great Nate, also love the gauge. I'm sure I read it before but it escapes me, what LP did you end up going with? Really need to do mine. I don't even prime to 9psi where you drop down to. Congratulations on getting it all back together and running.
Paul had the injector socket and that fit over the one plug on injectors 7 & 8. Its just a small cap for one of the return line nipples since its the last injector in the series.
You got the right kit. The two crimps are for injectors 7 & 8. Paul and I found it easier to put the cap and crimp on the injector before installing it in the block, or rather I found it easier Paul has I'm sure done this enough to know better. I was the rookie on the job.
The push on installation kit is for the injector return lines. Don't beat yourself up trying to install the oem style with crimps. You already have to do two injectors this way with the push on kit and that's bad enough. Ask me how I know. :blackeye:
Paul and I had injectors pulled and replaced in a couple hours. We swapped turbos and did the FTB mod as well so we were kinda all over the engine. You have to pull the turbo to do the pass side rear injectors. I think it also helps to pull the inner fender well on the pass side. I would give...
No worries, I will have to check, I don't know much about it other than its a genuine Holset hx-35. Its also setup for water cooling too. I was going to plumb it in but never did. I still might if the HX ever goes back on the truck.
Very clean looking remote FFM install. Mine is still just hanging there without the stud to mount it to.I'm excited to have it permanently mounted I'm just too busy to have the time. Its looking really good Nate.
I think we can all agree that Matt has the cleanest setup. No offense Nate.:)...
Actually I was running the hybrid HX-35 with the 14 cm housing. I am uncertain of the wheel sizes but its off the truck so its easy to check. I know the inducer is the 7 blade.
That's very impressive for the hx-35. With the 14ft tandem axle trailer I haul loaded with 6 4 wheelers and about 400lbs of gear in the bed boost was higher than that for me. Pulling into Evanston Wyoming by way of Salt Lake that wind kills my big lifted brick of a truck and I'm pushing 10-14...
Thanks Paul, wasn't trying to point fingers haha. :) It looks to be the last injector line on the pass side. Same one that came loose on vacation a couple years ago. Not sure what it's deal is, hoping to see if I can throw a wrench on it after I get home today. If not I will be heading your...
