Its listed on his website. I'm sure it's great but I'm all for the full DIY. It's not my first swap and I've got the backing of some excellent local help and a fantastic Diesel community here on the Truckstop! I love cruising the wreckers for parts I can "repurpose" on a hummer cummins swap...
And I've ordered a pair of the Dorman Taurus a/c fans you mentioned. My Hydralic fan drive will come later (if needed) it's too much engineering off the mark. I should get a running truck and mess with it later. The 6.5 was such a hot runner I'm overly sensitive about cooling. My Cummins guys...
Here's some pics of interest. A 6.5 from a hummer is 20" from center of crank to top of intake. A cummins 24v is 20 1/2" and a 12v Cummins is 19 1/2 ".
I can't see it clearly in the pictures but where are you routing the coolant from on the passenger side? It looks on mine in early exploration that it will interfere either with the frame side of the truck or the relocated a/c compressor.
I just worked this out after staring at the pics for 2 months. It's a bracket on the frame and the transfer case with a rubber isolator between. I thought it just bumped hard on the frame when the case twisted lol. Beats the silly sterl cable connected to the 27 piece exhaust hanger that's stock....
My go at cooling upgrades is a full Hydraulic driven fan. I spent some time last week machining the back off of a Cummins vacume pump to build an adapter for a tandem hydralic pump. The front half of the pump runs the fan motor and the back half power steering. In its original life it ran off...
I was looking over my truck tonight and changed the fuel filter. Thought I'd check the fluids while I was at it. Opened the coolant cap and about 4 liters of coolant overflowed out....lol. when I crack the bleed screw on the coolant crossover when running it just bubbles steady.
Couldn't be...
Integrated circuit timer....may be a new learning project for me as winter approaches. My glowplug relay should be up to the task I'm pondering now too. Not sure if it's a isolated system or run by the 6.5 pcm though.
Fantastic info. Especially the TPS. Didn't see that as an issue. My standalone controller the megasquirt might be able to calibrate for the dodge output. I'll be honest I've not delved into it far enough yet...
What's a 555?
Is that truck done without a lift? The valve cover at the back looks nice and tight. I think it could be done. No way to access the rear valve adjustment without raising the cab but who cares. And dual oil fillers? Stock one on the timing cover and another on the front valve cover?
I saw the extra set of notches in the crank and my buddy who's helping with my swap suggested it was an input for the transmission. I didn't think about the tach. I even was considering adapting the 6.5 CPS to the block.
My 3000rpm governor springs are here, my Hayden fan controller is on the...
This just carried on too long with no results...
I found a rebuilt trans with 1000kms on it that was behind an engine that got hydrolocked. I paid 700 bucks for it and threw it in. Works great. I dream of doing a post mortem on the old one but am happy just to move on. Thanks for the help...
