I hear the knock you are concerned about. IMO it's normal IDI clatter. How many miles on the injectors? Recall the way you know the timing is correct is to bring the truck up to 45 MPH and keep it there a time. Then roll into the throttle: the IDI clatter should go away as the precups heat up...
Maybe a cracked flex plate?
The cracks on the 6.2 will get worse and let go without warning anytime.
If you want the truck to keep running simply do as GM designed this disposable engine: get a new longblock. The stories of getting good take out engines like I did in the past are getting...
Just local hauling? The money had better be elsewhere in the business vs. just moving things from point A to B. With fuel costs and unstable sudden price increases: your cost to move something due to fuel can suddenly be unprofitable at the next gas station.
I wouldn't put 10 cents more than...
Just replace the old oil cooler hoses ASAP. They are not that expensive. They are known to get overheated, low temp spec material GM low bidder used, by the extremely hot oil and harden up. Maybe they give you a leak warning before they fail taking the engine with em. This hot oil hose design...
https://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/6-5-fan-and-clutch-diffrences.44664/
Take a look at the fan and clutch options out there. You are running this engine with a COMPLETELY USELESS FAN and INOP Fan Clutch. See all the crud on the clutch? That's the working fluid that leaked out of the...
Looks like the idlers are not to take the slack up, but, control the relationship of the chain going to the cam from the chain going off the crankshaft. If a link is marked wrong or the teeth are machined out of time on the idler gear itself it would mess up the static timing.
They are not...
I would get hold of Cloyes again. Offhand I would ask if the colored link on the timing chain is one link pin off?
I would call them before it possibly bends the valves again.
As you noted the engine somehow ran for 150K so we can assume it's ok for key way locations etc. Hopefully GM doesn't...
Now you Feel The PAIN of why you should keep the mechanical 1993 over this electronic clusterF! Even when you get all that fixed the bad PMD design will randomly ruin your day.
You have no SES light. Engine runs = ECM has power. Check the SES bulb as some remove it rather than "fix it". The SES...
Oh yeah a pic. Just can't miss this river.
"And I thought Diesel engines left oil spots you couldn't get off!" That's frame wax on the top: GM dealers will remove the frame wax by the cats and paint the frame.
Here we go again... another oil filter leaking.
Looks like GM is aware of the problem on EVERYTHING they make from 2000-2022.

Then you look into the pump to find the drive slots and put the converter in close to those lining up on the TC snout 'hub'. Look on the snout of the TC to see where the seal was running and use this as your depth goal. The it's turn, turn, turn, turn... until the converter "Thump" slips over...
Seal puller cakewalk however: It's very tricky to make sure the TC lines up and slips in to turn the pump. Thus you mark the depth it is at and it's o'clock position before removal. Then you make sure it goes back in to the same depth by turning it after slipping it back in at the o'clock...
