    Stuck with my 6.5

So it ran at one point. The 1985 rods didn't change the compression ratio. It may have changed another way, but, for now we should assume it's standard high compression. The raw diesel smell and miss could be a bad glow plug. Loss of compression, bent valve, rocker arm come off etc. Video of...

Flywheel fitment issue on a new Optimizer engine.

All I can think of is the crankshaft doesn't have the proper depth for the converter. I assume it wasn't like this before. You are only replacing the engine OR are you doing both the engine and transmission? I was assuming engine only being changed. I see the bevel for the starter gear toward...

TPS ? Fuel Pressure ? What You think ?

Since your here ... inspect the harness connector solder joints (to the board) for cracking. Do take the old ignition switch apart, but, only after you feel the problem is solved.

Flywheel fitment issue on a new Optimizer engine.

Looks like @Will L. post is accidentally confusing. There should be no "bearing" in the end of the crankshaft. The pilot bearing is for manual transmissions only, however, if it's put in by mistake or left in after a rebuild it's a problem with the automatic trans Torque Converter, TC. The...

TPS ? Fuel Pressure ? What You think ?

Get a voltmeter on the ECM power and ground pins esp if it's broken now. Back probe em.

Flywheel fitment issue on a new Optimizer engine.

No, you don't! You are going to run out of clearance with this disaster of a fix and trash the thrust bearing in the engine and/or transmission pump and the converter. (Severe damage to the rest of engine and/or transmission from the debris will quickly follow.) Under some operating conditions...

TPS ? Fuel Pressure ? What You think ?

Save your money. It's likely not the ECM. You are loosing power to the ECM either by bad ground or bad +12V to the ECM. A connector problem at the ECM could be hidden for a time by swapping the ECM till it comes back. As it's acting up, now, you should verify voltage to the ECM. If you must...

Flywheel fitment issue on a new Optimizer engine.

The converter can move back and forth some. Is it bound up where it won't move? Possible there is a bearing for a MT left in the crankshaft?

    Turbo blanket

Downpipe is easy. It's wrapping the manifolds that was hard. You need good bands to wrap it to hold the wrap on. The wrap on my crossover came loose then off without enough stainless wraps used.

TPS ? Fuel Pressure ? What You think ?

Any codes? Normal but note: SES may illuminate on low RPM or stalling, but, if the engine RPM comes back up it goes back out. Glow plugs on a hot engine make me want to check power to the ECM including grounds and bad batteries. However if the key wasn't "OFF" for 30 seconds the ECM was still...

    P400 tare-down findings

My UOA showed a need to change the oil at 2500 miles when towing. 3000 miles was oil failure. After installing Gapless Rings, that the subject engine has, I was good for 5,000 miles. I didn't have any fancy bypass filter; just the OEM oil filter. Again the oil failure had to be from something...

2001 Silverado 1500HD 4L80E transmission, feels like transbrake is on when in D even in manual 3,2,1

YES!!! Have you priced one from a GM Dealer? You have any problems with a GM Goodwrench transmission you take it to a GM Dealer or any authorized service center. The parts stores are in a race to the bottom with CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP patch it long enough to get to the next payday. With your "If...

    New owner of a 6.2, K5 Blazer

I don't follow why you are "Yeah give me the electronics" and all the changes that requires? It ain't that hard to build a 700r4. What's the full story? What transmission oil they recommending? X2 drop a 4L80E in instead as 6.2/6.5 diesels when they aren't eating their own innards like to...

2001 Silverado 1500HD 4L80E transmission, feels like transbrake is on when in D even in manual 3,2,1

The time it takes to overheat and warp clutch plates in a transmission when slipping is not long at all. It's just the clutch plates that quickly overheat at first not the entire transmission. Yes it will overheat if the slipping keeps up long enough. I have burnt the weak 3rd over-run clutches...

    Michelin XPS Rib

I use the 30A in National Parks that don't have 50A so the 30A setup is an advantage. Regardless it's easy button to add a 15A (normal outlet) or 20A 120V plug dedicated just for the second A/C unit. I finally added a second A/C unit to my RV. So I use the 30A and the 20A plugs at campsites...

    Michelin XPS Rib

The nice part about travel with an RV is you set the pace of how far you go in a day, if you even go at all. Take a couple days in one place before going on to the next. You can't get around the work of setting up and filling/dumping water tanks. Bigger tanks mean you do it less often like every...

Weird crank but no start issue

No. If it ain't broke don't fix it. You can confirm it's still going soft with your electric booster lift pump? This may be the add on pump not keeping up and perhaps it's causing you problems rather than helping or you have a restriction in the fuel system. It may only need a repair if you...

Crank, no start except with starter fluid

Starters have four brushes. You can loose one brush and it still cranks the engine but slower. For example this from the carnage scrap pile... https://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/attachments/bad-starter2-jpg.38389/ https://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/6-5-carnage.39865/#post-453250

^^^ IMO you fixed the problem with the above. Now quit fixing things till they are broken.

My 5th wheel has had 3 TV's. The Original Owner's Chevy with a 8.1L that wouldn't pass a gas station, My 2003 Cummins, and now my 2018 Cummins RAM. I can hook or unhook in about 15 min depending on if the slides are out, clean up to bring the slides in, and hook ups. Otherwise it's put tailgate...
