got done with snaplage a few weeks ago now trying to get the rest of the corn combined. Have about 150 acres of our own left then its on to hauling manure and working ground till we cant anymore, then time to be cooped up in the shop fixing, and plowing snow.
not very good quality or good...
Were chopping around 230 wet tons of silage per hour with this chopper. Krones 1100hp one will eat through over 400 tons per hour.

The feed is being pushed through the chopper first by the cutterhead, then through the processor and then by the accelerator all powered by 470hp which is little by todays standards. Its the 2nd smallest one. Claas biggest one has 860hp. I do not know what the new big single engine ones will...
for true corn silage it all gets chopped . All thats left is about a foot of stalk. We chop this in the 62-68% whole plant moisture range
For snaplage, we adapt a combine head onto the chopper and it snaps just the ear off just like when combining. But instead of shelling off the kernels it...
We've been at chopping Corn silage for a couple weeks now. Got around 700 or so acres chopped and a couple hundred to go yet. Been doing a lot of custom hauling with the semis for other chopping crews, and once we get the silage chopped we will be switching the chopper over for snaplage. Then...
Im extremely anal about it. Soo much invested in it, i would hate to see it a mess. I like having everything in its place. Everybody else in the shop always wants to borrow this or that, and I actually get mad if they try to put it away because they dont clean it right or put it away right ever...
Finally moved into it, cleaned all of the tools and such in the process. Still need to clean out the tracks on the drawer slides, but most all of them are sliding nicely now with the weight and some use on them. Really loving this box now that im using it.
Few pics for fun.
We used to milk holsteins. But the Breed was going towards larger cows and our old barn at our old farm was too small. So we added some Jerseys, and within a couple years were 100% jersey.
We have continued with them due to their efficiency, calving ease, small size, and tolerance to heat. They...
After only 8 months of great service I picked up my HF boxes replacement yesterday. A Used KRL7023 Snap-On with SS top for $2,900. its in decent shape showing some useage and some road bruises, but in really good shape for the price, over $10,000 new. Looking around their are selling for...
They are manufacturing a lot of their products in the states.
They Agco name and color have been dropped, Challenger and Massey are the two that remain.
We always coat our Tank spread with Diesel fuel or Veggie oil. Issue to the OP is he doesnt want it to stick. I think your going to find it hard to do that.
around 3000 acres of Hay through it and only two issues. The hydraulic motor that drives the suction screen went out and a seal for the input gearbox to the pickup head went bad. Other than that, running very good. Shearbar and knives will both be shot by the end of 4th crop just in time for...
I love how on a 0* day on our farm we can stand 15' inside the shop with the big door open, in a t shirt and not be cold. You could stand like that for a long time. Weve sometimes had to have the door open for a few inutes when moving disabled vehicles in and its nice that the heat recovers to...
