    1993 gmc 6.5 td with 4l80e

I was thinking the same thing. I was on another thread just discussing the same thought. If the TCM is bad, thank GOD that GMC will have to honor a warranty on the brand new $700.00 unit they just installed and said all was perfect.....

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

I might just pull the batt cables this weekend if we don't get the snow they are talking about. That may be the easiest and quickest way to check the codes again. As for sitting for long periods,,,,only when shes down. When I'm working and driving her, I usually put 50 to 100 miles per day on...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Agreed, I was told after the initial test to clear that the pedal moves will not work on our year which is why the fuse test came up. I only noticed one fuse in the lower dash that had the ecm/?? letters associated with it and pulled it, never tried turning the key on to test it that way. Maybe...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Good evening. Quick update: I've tried to clear codes via the brake pedal/ gas pedal method and the pull the fuse(s) for 10+ seconds to no avail. Still shows code 68 without even starting the truck.Frustrating here....Mark

Small update: I pulled the fuse (just one on this truck that I saw) for about 15 seconds and then reinstalled and tried to pull codes again to no avail. Still the 68 and the truck was not even started before rechecking.:mad2:. I really need some more daylight and some warmer temps. It does make...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Not yet as I've been working past dark and it's been cold and wet here not to mention the wind storm today. I will try to get out there this weekend and I will look at the back of the tcm and get you the exact wire/pin it comes off of. I will also pull the fuse for the ecm/tcm and clear my codes...

Thank you. I've already been there as TD had advised me some time ago. Very helpful info there. My biggest problem right now is daylight and time. I would still like to know why I can not clear the code when following the "brake pedal and gas pedal mash for 15 seconds +" and I have not even...

Thanks, I will check those items as well. Unfortunately there is not alot of light around here anymore and I don't have a garage to work out of. I am really starting to think grounds are going to a big part of my issues. Mark

BTW, my low coolant light is kicking on and off but my coolant level is just fine. I realize this is different that the coolant temp sensor and both have been replaced over the last few years however, could they be connected? Thanks again, Mark

Oki Dokie here, not to bring up a dead horse here but my 93 just went through the same thing to no avail. I found a bad wire splice on the TPS harness on the blue wire and tried to clear codes to no avail. Now my remote start is starting to create it's own mind and start the truck every so often...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Thanks guys, I would love to multi quote right now to answer and ask correctly but I seem to have a registry error not allowing me to quote, smiley and other things.Any thoughts on the wires coming from the TCM? There are a few blue wires on the back end of the harness but the particular one I'm...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

BTW, do any of you tranny/electrical experts know what the blue wire in the center of that harness is exactly for? The lower end pulled out very easily which tells me there was not alot of contact. A little more research this afternoon, I found on the back of the new TCM wiring, another...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Heres the pic of what could be wrong. Maybe GMC dealer or the Tranny shop.I know the green shrinkwrap was not there when I changed the TPS a couple of years ago. Thanks,Mark P.S. Thanks for assistance Paul! :-)

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

I will have to check on the TCC thing but, could a cut wire and not being spliced together properly at the TPS harness give me this problem? Kinda like this one....(This was just a quick look when I came home from work tonight and it was dark out, but it looked starnge and was not there when I...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

I went to the truck and grabbed the receipt. Here is the list of replaced parts: TPS PCM (dealer items) Tranny and cooler flush with cooler clean Master overhaul kit, high energy Torque converter, billet cover, multi-disc lockup Tranny oil Internal filter Pressure control solenoid...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Supposedly the TCM went bad and killed the TPS which in turn burnt up the tranny which was why all had been replaced. The new TCM should be under warranty from the stealer and I'll have to check the paperwork on the pressure control solenoid. Supposedly a very reputible trans shop and I've seen...

DTC 68 - Transmission Component Slipping

Thank you and I'll see if I can get someone over this weekend to help with checking all the circuts, grounds power sources. I did have a battery with a bad cell and it killed them both and I replaced them the day I had to pick the truck up. Thanks, Mark
