Crossovers and t-stat...might as well get all four corners “while you’re in there.” Address only one and the next weakest one standing in line will let go in a week/month.
Made the truck my daily driver. 2016 Touareg is GONE. Too many quirks but mainly emission issues over the past 2 years. DEF injector leaked down and filled the CAT in 2022. Last year it was the Particulate Filter that coded off and on for months; put me in limp mode and took over 100 days to...
You could try a bumper mount. Only fab up additional support to avoid stress cracking the heat sink from vibrations.
From a previous posting on the topic. First picture was using just one Air Dam attachment point/hold. Second Picture: I'd drilled two holes. Even with that small of a heat sink...
Lift Pump relocation. I used some square post material to get the additional clearance I needed for the Air Dog (died). The material was only 1.5 inches though and you'll need enough to build out for the full 2.5" of clearance. You could double it up though... Here's my brain-fart idea. It...
Welcome and yes, those are a couple of nice looking Burbs. Currently shopping for one to replace my totaled 99 so, wish me luck.
The main thing is to get a set up with a large heat-sink and get the whole thing out of the engine bay.
Leroy's system is widely available but, he's a site vendor...
One point on the powder coating of the upper and lower intake. Bolts making contact with the intake’s bare aluminum surface provides a path to ground for the Air Intake Sensor. My AIT sensor couldn’t get a path to ground until some coating was removed around the bolt holes (at least one).
I'm still in the DS-4 club and you'll be ok running ATF. Been there, done that both in the tank and in the FFM. Check out dbrannon97's 'weird split second engine....' thread where Will L, myself and other's discuss water decarb and ATF methods.
To help clean up the system after filling up with some really bad fuel I did a 50/50 mix of ATF and BG-44 in the FFM a few times until I'd run a couple of good fuel tanks through it. Cleared the stuttering, hiccupping, almost stalling out situation nicely by the time I got to Salt Lake...
IIRC, Leroy's kit should have come with the 4x4 adaptor O rings and copper crush washer. Lubrication Specialists don't list a 6.2 / 6.5 kit anymore when I checked for a cooler only as that's the set up I had. Thinking I'd re-use my lines I sourced the upper/smaller O ring at NAPA. The larger...
Did a similar alignment on my truck after swapping in new ball joints, bushings, tie rods, centerlink etc. I used 4' levels centered on both wheels. Centered the steering wheel and then adjusted the tie-rods to get the back and front of the levels an equal distance from each other. Checked...
Perhaps the bad fuel of an odious color smelling like varnish may have affected the Optic Sensor’s functionality. That and/or Previous Owner might have tried and failed to do an Optic Sensor bump.
At the transmission, the pressurized / hot or output is the forward most line. W/o an auxiliary cooler, I’m hard pressed to say if it should run to the lower radiator port or the upper. My guess is it doesn’t make a real difference but someone more transmissiony guru will have to chime in on...
If it is T’d into the transmission output to the auxiliary cooler in front of the radiator, I guess it beats drilling the pan and welding a bung.
Transmission lines output (HOT) side run to the auxiliary transmission cooler, feeds back to the lower radiator transmission cooler fitting and then...
Sorry for the delayed response (Anniversary Celebrations and all).
I had to do a little digging in the 1997 manuals and (for us diesel guys) where you have a Vehicle Control Module (VCM) near the Brake Controller and the Under Hood Fuse Box vs. my 6.5. ECM next to the Glove box...my learning...
Thanks Rock, I’ve been chasing other things and failed to see your post. Kinda what I figured so I’ll hit a couple of parts yards and see what plays out…after it stops snowing again.
For the Scanner communications issue, check for connectivity between port 2 (Serial Data Port-purple wire) and your ECM. P.O. on my 99 had decided the best way to disable the security pass lock was to start hacking at the wiring and had severed that purple wire resulting in my scanner not being...
That sucks. Had that issue last fall. Couldn’t find a direct replacement. Contact Leroy once you confirm fitting sizes (1/2” or 5/16”) and, if you’ve got the correct sized fittings, order just the cooler from him.
DJ, welcome to the truck stop. If you’re getting fuel to the Injection Pump but nothing at the injectors I would definitely concure with Will L and consider the 22 year old PMD toast, especially if it’s still on the injection pump and had been subjected to rinse and repeat Nevada desert heat...
Blown turn signal fuse issue popped up again. BLUF, front left LED signal (12+ years old) was at issue. Incandescent bulbs back in.
Fuel Gauge locked on Full issue solved with a fill up and bumpy road. Guess the Metrum FSR floating measurement element got stuck at the top.
Simple solutions...
