What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Neutral Safety Switch info is very good to know as that was another concern. Who knows what evil learns in the hearts of electrical systems. With the battery lead to starter disconnected, I need to confirm the status of the Purple exciter wire, Ensure it isn’t broke / open between starter and...

Under Hood Pin outs for the starter relay for those who want to play along. Hint, this would be the view if you were looking at the bottom of the box.

Parked the truck in what has to be a subdivision of Shangrila. Yes, this place does exist and pictures do not do the house, the area or the views justice but, boy do we still try to capture them. When invited to visit, take my advice (even if you have to get towed here), don’t delay, BigT...

Having my own drama. The 2014 ghost of 'Oh S!!!t' revisited. Half-shaft backed out of the "cup" thing attaching to the differential. Not my first rodeo, unfortunately and I'm fully flummoxed as i thought I had this sago sorted out years ago. Just happy it didn't take out the front...

Took two of my grand daughters for a joy ride. Got ice cream, washed the truck and cleaned the ice cream melting from the interior. They are 7 and 11 years old, love to ‘help Opa fix the truck’ and go for ‘test drives’ afterwards. They wave at everyone cause the truck is so cool and they want...

    Filter before Lp

Happy to help with info. I did the same after getting the engine sorted out and installing a new tank. Left the sock on the sender (still there), OEM LP was fine in commuter traffic, aftermarket 2 micron filter just before the IP vs. the FFM and continued 3/8” to the IP inlet. It will give you...

    Filter before Lp

Newest edition of AirDog 5G-100 and 165 models are pre-set at factory to 8-10 psi. Mine is an older 165 and min. pressure is also 10 psi. It can be increased to (can’t remember or find) but, unnecessary as it doesn’t drop under WOT. Quadstar sells the 5G version, Leroy’s advertised unit is the...

    Filter before Lp

FWIW, My experience is that fuel pressure at WOT drops to Zero using the OEM LP w/ Feed the Beast mod. That’s why I decided to go back to my AirDog DF series which is a Flow on Fail set up.

Knocked a couple more items off the Truck Project List I put together while the truck was down. Just because I refused to spend a dime on it until it was actually running correctly didn't mean I wasn't keeping up with the needs. I prioritized Safety, Functionality/Dependability stuff over...

Hate it when the truck is calling but the house has priority. Good to see you’re back on the motor though. Looked good. Not sure which lift pump you want from Kennedy but, his “same as the the one we sell for the duramax” is listed at 4psi. I looked it up on his Duramax offerings since his 6.5...

    P400 tare-down findings

Military turned down the P-400 over environmental / economical standards. Can’t argue the impact of having better economy from a logistical resupply/sustainment standpoint but, have a hard time with the ‘can’t win if you’re not “super green” too.’ Waiting for the results of the tear down and...

    P400 tare-down findings

Unless during the partial rebuild you replaced them, curious as to what you find when inspecting the piston rings and the overall condition of the cylinder walls.

    S&B Airbox with HX40

Apologies in advance SnowDrift. This is kind of a derail of your fitment quest but, this is funny. Gale Banks tearing into S&B marketing an open box / box less filter set up because "the customer wants it." Big SSDiesel set up for new trucks actually. Remember, S&Bs changed the 6.5 box...

    S&B Airbox with HX40

Solving for "?" The width of the air box is 9 1/2" so, without the OEM plastic air ducting inserted into the fender's opening, it just might fit. It sits on the inner fender in a slight incline so the side against the waste gate controller isn't plumb so it is canted a few degrees. Kind...

Pre-Trip checking of tires and bearings is overrated…. Finished wiring up the brake controller. Biggest hurdle was where and how to tie into the Brake Light wire since the You Tube video’s truck wasn’t quite like mine. Ended up splicing in at the main harness for the turnsignal and all under...

That drain tube set up looks like a quality piece of kit. As long as the mating surfaces on the turbo and block are free of old RTV and gasket material, one should have a dry passenger side motor. I’ve learned by sad experience that if you don’t, especially the turbo side…you don’t. Looking...

Need help! In a pickle in Nome, Alaska

That’s great to hear that the truck is running smooth enough to drive. Great catch on the harness and the successful repairs there. FWIW, Physical orientation of the IP is essential to get the base timing to 3.5. You do the Time Set function on the scanner, the truck stumbles like a drunk...
