Haha Oh I bet I could slide another article into Diesel Power lol speak of the devil, I was just reading that article yesterday on the throne. It's sitting about 4 feet from me as I type this lol
I know the governors are different. Has an AG governor on it now, and will have to be switched. Either to a K-style governor or something custom. My pump guy is gone to a convention this week and knows some old timers that are good with these things. Gonna get some info this coming week hopefully
No, the motors were not high output. Fuel rate stock is about 70cc's. So slightly above a stock DB2831-4911. However, this can be ramped WAY up from there. I am only looking for a fuel rate in the 110-130cc range. So not very much more. The pump should be more than capable of it and grow as I...
I'm not sure. I know some had the 4 cylinder idle option while some of the later ones didn't. I will have to see. I have no idea what it came off of or year other than the motor. I'm sure I can disable the 4 cylinder idle somehow if it does have one.
I'd assume it increases fuel delivery by the same means as on a DS pump, just better. Not entirely sure. Gonna let my guy dig around with it a bit. It is a 3 stage multi-tune device
IDK what the differences are. I did find a power adder for the DE pumps and sent him a link a little bit ago. He is going to look into it. Seems happy that somebody found something. He specializes in DS and DB pumps. Certified Bosch and Stanadyne pump monkey. Works everyday with these. I trust...
Straight from my pump guy "See if you can come up with a chip/power enhancing device for an application that uses a DE Stanadyne pump. John Deere 310SE comes to mind. The reason for it is the DE pump is just like a DS except for one thing: the PMD is incorporated into the ECM. This "Heath Merlin...
The interchangeability is pretty much zero. Just looking at a cam ring from a DS4 to a DB2, you will see why. A DS4's cam ring is almost non-existent relative to a DB pump. The DS works on a whole other platform compared to a DB pump
I did find out how to overcome all of that though. I did just ordered an inline 8 cylinder pump lol should be here next week. That's when the fun will begin.
The problem with any of the DB/DS style pumps is beyond tuning, and is a limit of the internals and design. Depending on different spots. Right now, one of the biggest limit of the DS pump comes in the fuel solenoid opening and closing. Tuning can only get it open for so long. Heaths pump has...
I know it was next to impossible without a bellow for the simple fact of everything wouldn't line up perfect with the V-Bands and I was always having leaks. This is what I welded into mine and it wouldn't take up much of any more room for the firewall and would allow pieces to bend a bit for...
That was an issue I ran into too building my first crossover pipe on my setup. I ended up changing a lot of it and welding in a flexible expansion I grabbed from Orielly's. Works great so far. Maybe a thought 3500? But also, 7.3L Powerstroke pipes aren't bellowed and run a lot hotter and seem to...
I have not. Though one of these days, now I might have to. Kind of peaked my curiosity lol If I had to take a stab in the dark, I'd assume a basic mix of water, and some type of alcohol, such as methanol, or isopropanol. Every brands different so hard to tell what they use. Methanol can act...
I have an older Snow Performance Stage 3 Boost Cooler kit. Comes with a progressive electronic controller that serves as a monitor for boost and EGT and also displays my % injection. Which is nice. I looked into mixing out pure methanol with distilled water. It gets pricey. Being a chemical lab...
The use of injection is all dependent on what kit you have. My friend has a basic Snow kit with adjustable start and end points. It works good but is more strictly for power. I have a full electronic control unit in mine and can set it to inject based only on boost or boost+EGT. Which is for...
As far as I know, stock for whatever came in the Optimizer. The Optimizer never got rebuilt when I bought it. Just threw it in there. I think the Optimizer went to smaller main bolts to alleviate the main web cracking issue. So it doesnt worry me there
