6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

Yes sir! One thing I've learned from working on aircraft, gotta replicate exactly what the pilots are describing.

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

I went down to oreillys & measured all the regulators for an 89 d350 cummins. They all measured around 5.something ohms. Which tells me that my multimeter could be bad or low battery causing a false reading. Either way, I got the lowest reading one (master pro, go figure). Put it in the truck...

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

Problem is I'm not 100% sure I have the correct denso specific alternator. Didn't realize I was going to have such a problem with this. I think I'm going to order a Denso reman'd from RockAuto & install it just to be 100% sure. I don't feel like chasing these issues.

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

Reason for not going to the 1 wire 200 amp is the cost. That puppy is $380, whereas a rebuilt denso is $90. I can buy a lot of voltage regulators for that price. I will double check all grounds as well. I just purchased a C8313 from ebay as you had said, should be here in 2 weeks which really...

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

Are these problems only related to the denso alternator? If I had a remanufactured one from Remy, would that make a difference? I will rewire the regulator to be as you specify, but just out of curiosity, couldn't I leave my wiring & just run a ground from the alternator case to the bat negative...

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

So here's how I wired it. I tested my regulator IAW the video above. I got like 5.84, so I dont think it's right. However, I'd like to double check that I actually wired this correctly. The blue & green wire attach to the alternator two small terminals & the white wire is an ignition wire that...

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

Ok so I have one that looks like it without the adjustable on the back. It's a "Standard VR125". Does anyone local sell the C8313 or is it an internet special?

6.5 to 5.9 Cummins Alternator Help

Alrighty guys, I said screw it, I'll figure out the GM alternator another time. Running the dodge alt with an external regulator, but I think I have a problem. Somewhere I have a parasitic draw. So I have to find that. But also, I dont think the external regulator is working. I wired it IAW all...

Allison 6 speed vs 5 speed

Gotcha. I do know about modifying the torsion bar crossmember. Depending on how much longer the allison is vs the 4l80, I shouldn't have much of a problem. Right now with the 6" lift, the torsion bar crossmember is dropped down. So the transfer case clears easily. I had a local shop "build" me a...

Allison 6 speed vs 5 speed

Gear ratio is 4:10. What stall you think would be best? 1500 to 2k?

Allison 6 speed vs 5 speed

Hey guys. So I'm doing a cummins swap in my 96 K3500 right now. In the meantime, I'll be running a "level 2" 4l80e. Just to keep costs down. However, in the future I'm looking to throw an allison into the truck. I've been doing research, and pretty much everyone recommends the 6 speed. However...

Adventure Vehicles NW vs Autoworld Motor Mounts

Yeah, they sent me a bunch of pics before even shipping them out as well. I'm happy with these mounts & very pleased with how they handled the whole situation. Joel @ AVNW has been extremely helpful with my conversion as well. Answering any question I have without hesitation, providing wiring...

    Fuel Sol Fuse Help

What do you mean FFM heater? Will: I'm not wiring up the grid heater just yet. I'm wiring up the TCI EZ TCU trans controller. It requires constant 12v from battery, ground, & then an ignition feed. I was going to tap into the FUEL SOL fuse if it's only powered when the key is in the accelerator...

    Fuel Sol Fuse Help

Alright. So I am in the middle of my 6.5 to 12v cummins swap. I have to wire up 12v constant (battery), ground (battery), & a 12v ignition wire. The first two are easy, just connect directly to the battery. The last one is where I'm stumped. The engine is out of the truck, & I'm trying to figure...

    ID These Engine Connectors?

Hey guys. In the middle of my 6.5 to 5.9 cummins swap. I sold the 6.5 engine so fast I didnt have time to track down & research/study the engine wiring harness. So I have these two connectors that attach in the back of the 6.5 that I'm not sure where they connect to. I believe these connect to...
