On second thought, this is a 1999. Electronic everything (it has a hurt feelings sensor). If I run a tube to atmosphere, is that going to trip a sensor, and cause the vehicle to not run, or run problematic? In other words, has somebody else already done this to this year, and type of truck...
I'm not familiar with a provent. Further information is required. I have a '94 dodge, and it vents straight to the ground. Can this be easy, and just pull that CDR valve, and basically run a tube to atmosphere?
Can the CDR valve be cleaned and reused? At $40.00-60.00 a pop, if it can be reused, I would like to know how. Or, if it can't be cleaned and reused, is there a reliable, cheaper aftermarket part?
Back on line....Here is what I had to do....
1) remove passenger side battery.
-unhook driver side battery neg cable.
2) drain down coolant enough to remove top radiator hose (radiator drain area may need modification to access easily).
3) remove top fan shroud, fan / clutch...
It is definitely the IP. Got a replacement....will switch out tomorrow. Marked everything today. To get the hard lines off the IP, do you need a specialty tool, or will cutting a 19 mm box end work (with a bend or two in it)?
Started the truck today (made sure nothing got into the open holes). Findings.... The injector pump has an obvious leak underneath the back end (cylinder area where the octopus arranged injector lines are attached). Good thing that there is a drain hole located on the back of the block in the...
Thanks Paveltolz and EWC. With that information, I'm pretty sure I know where the leak is coming from. I will run the engine like Paveltolz described and verify. But, now, knowing that is a drain hole my money's is on the pump weeping.
I have a modified relay from Leroy. Just push a button and the lift pump activates. I also have moved the FFM, and it is not leaking. Actually, the FFM (and entire fuel system) is still full and attached to the injection pump. This is my first time messing with the injection pump, and related...
I've got fuel dripping from the bell housing hole and from areas around the interface between the block and bell housing when the truck is running. It took awhile to figure out what the fluid was because it was a small leak, and seemed weaker than diesel (watered down). I've exposed the...
O.K. From all the above information, I think that the tune was done correctly. I will now drive the thing, and see what happens... Husker6.5 I couldn't agree with you more. If I had checked out 6.5's before I got one, I would have stayed away from the one's governed by all these electrical...
Let me get this straight. If the VATS is disabled, and the passlock is disabled, then the security light will stay on all the time. If that is true, then it is possible that the tune I received to disable the security system occurred. I thought that if the light stayed on, then the security...
After eliminating all the usual suspects to a series of random no starts, I came to the conclusion that a failing VATS was the cause. No sense in replacing parts to this useless system...I heard, from this forum, that one can eliminate the VATS with a PCM tune. Since I, supposedly, already...
Thanks ak diesel driver. I'll contact the folks that tuned my PCM, and see what they can do. I'm nearly 100% convinced that this security system is the problem. I'll tell all what happens.
Can you explain the PCM delete? Is that a service like a PCM tune where the security system is wiped out? If so, what vender could do that? I'd be interested in that.
Better yet, is there any way to totally bypass the security system? The VATS or pass lock, what ever system is in this truck. This is worthless system, and I have no need or desire to have this system...locking the door is good enough. Just want the truck to run when I start it. To have the...
Is this pass lock module an item that can be bought? If so, what vender? If it has to be found in a salvage yard what vehicles would be compatible, or does it have to be from a '99 6.5? I saw your pictures as to the location of this module. To be clear, pretty much straight down from the...
