I guess I really should have used 'should' instead of would. Sorry for any confusion. And while I have no experience with gear drives (all just my theory), it is interesting about the belt drive
Not dredging up old arguments, but I believe the controversy started by steaksauce really had no basis or merit. That being said, the concern with harmonics would be countered with a harmonic damper. Nuff said.
With all the time we spend on making everything perfect, wouldn't we want our...
AK, what's your thought on gear drives? Or anyone for that matter. Is it worth the $? I know it won't stretch over time, but will it affect timing under various loads or rpm's? I guess 'walking' might be the correct term?
X2 Slim, usually only racers or performance nuts really worry about degreeing a cam. Most just plug and play. And with this cam, there aught to be lots of play!
I wonder how the set up would be with a non-stock turbo? I mean an HX series (or knock off) will hands down out flow the oem, translated into a more efficient air pump and now add this new cam? So many questions...
Yeah, try to find his stuff. He did some testing with fire rings and gaskets. IIRC, most of the gaskets, didn't line up right, cept the vr's. Then he tried different thickness wire. Ya know, there is some major talent here. Very smart.
If you look back, 6.2 has some really good info on head gaskets and tourquing. He's playing with TTY and studs. IIRC, he was tourquing around 150 ish. Also there was questions raised on sealing the studs. Like which sealant to use etc... Good read. I think he's using victor reinz (?) Head gaskets.

Downhill in Illinois? Did you go through Chicago? That or the governor's office... Either one is going downhill fast!
Sorry the temptation was just too great. Haha
Just throwing it out there, but I believe what decking the block did was effectively raise the compression ratio to around 24:1 (just guessing here) but it's higher than stock, causing the jump in noticeable power.
Husker, back when I thought I knew more than I really did, (around 22 or so) I did a brake tourque in 4 lo without the hubs locked in (1980 blazer all jacked up) told my buddy "watch this" and stomped the brake and gas. Luckily, the drive shaft flew away from him. Had to limp home in 4 hi with...
Well, if you must know... All I did was put in a ssdiesel 80hp chip in my 94 one ton and a few months later I developed a sorta rod knockish noise. I parked the truck about 4 or 5 years ago. I'm now revisiting the idea of a major rebuild (port, polish, gasket match, multi position chip, hx40...
