Now, switching away from maintenance, I got around to building a cold air intake. And when I say cold air intake, I mean an actual box that is insulated and sealed from the engine bay...
Started out with cardboard for a template.......
Then I cut and riveted everything together using...
It really is. I can't believe the difference a tune makes.

My work is never done......
So, I've been chasing down a rough idle in this truck since I bought it. Not quite a miss but it isn't as smooth at idle as it could (should in my opinion) be. I've had a oil leak at the pan...
The combination of the tune and the 0411 has really helped the truck out. With the camper I was getting 6.5-7.5 MPG..... This past weekend I ended up getting 9.3 MPG. I about fell over. Mind you this is up a summit and two passes, then back. All at 60-70 MPH.
Did I mention that I can do all 3...
Any Better?
Been getting the tunes worked out with BlackBear, this has been a common sight lately.....
My gauges finally showed up though, here is what they look like out of the box. Speedhut did an awesome job, the quality is excellent, well worth the wait.
Since they were in I had to...
I have a dual display mirror, it shows both compass and temperature. My previous S-series DIC in the overhead console showed compass temp and some MPG figures as well (MPG won't work on the 6.5L of OBD1 stuff, but there is a basic just compass/temp unit as well). This console has a DIC from a...
Been super busy at work lately and at home, trying to get some of the project stuff off my plate lately.
Last weekend I finally got around to a good wash for the truck, and pulled the trailer out to help a friend move.
While I had the trailer and campers out of the way the other weekend, I...
Thanks. Yeah I can tell they are the best cupholders out there, but they are better than the rear cupholders GMT400 consoles had or the fact I had none at all

Finished up my speaker upgrade last night. Not sure why it took this long to accomplish, but the GM...
I haven't, but I could LOL

Welp, I think we've hit the "nickle and dime" stage of truck repairs. Last week while backing up i hit the brake pedal only to be treated to a harsh vibration and grinding sound..... only to have the same sound when I turn the truck...
Welp, got a few things done. Waterpump went the other day, lost a bunch of coolant. Luckily I noticed it while at home and not towing. Threw some paint on before install.
Then swapped out the Whipple
Also noticed an exhaust leak, figured out it was the manifold donuts.... which were new...
Here she is.... Rebuilt Whipple.
We will get that, along with a new starter installed shortly. But first I needed to get away from things and drag the camper/quads over to the sunshine. First time using the new camper with the cargo trailer.
I think a shorter hitch extension is in...
Yeah there is no aftermarket I could find for them. I just pull them and clean them every now and then. I have some other plans up my sleeve but there are more pressing things to do first.
Well, it has been around a month since purchasing the new camper, and it's been living on the truck this entire time. Well the old jacks were severely rusted (this must have been out at the coast). Fortunately the hardware for 95% of the camper is stainless, sans the jacks and brackets. Anyway...
Not a ton new on the truck front, got a few mods in the works once again...
Now, this isn't a truck mod, but it does have to ride in the truck. A new to me 2000 Northern Lite Ten-2000 CD camper.
These campers are how all campers should be built. Unlike conventional RVs, it's a 2-piece...
They are LED. It would be pretty complicated to upgrade them based on their design. However I do have the PN for the actual GM lights, though they are $52+/- each.
Mine are wired directly to the backup lights. My regular backup lights are really bright LEDs so that is what I'm used to. The...
Got everything all wired up and working. Here are my observations:
- The Clearnace lights and Glass Signals are nice and bright and useful.
- They seem to vibrate less than the previous style.
- The Convex mirror is WAY more wide angled. I don't think a blind spot exists anymore.
- The backup...
Yeah but having a dry interior is worth it.

Little bit of an update on the truck, new K2XX towing mirrors with color matched caps and smoked signals.
Few photos of them on the truck, ignore how dirty it is, we haven't had much good weather here.
I still...
