Can one go from EFI to mechanical fuel injection with a simple pump swap?

Or what else is necessary? Has anyone done this before? I think there's a lot of attraction to some of the last 6.5s with the simpler mechanical injection setup. Being considered for a 1999 Suburban I'm looking at for my Dad.

Main difference between 1993 and 1999 6.5s besides the fuel injection?

How much parts swapping can be done aside from the fuel injection bits? Most everything?

Rear spacers OK to use? 1993 K3500, need to widen the track out back

Just got mine mounted up Monday night- talk about beefy! I'm used to working with smaller 20mm spacers for European cars. They certainly feel and look stout, and I'm glad I went with these over aluminum for my load. The rear wheels are damn near perfectly flush and matching with the front wheels...

Rear spacers OK to use? 1993 K3500, need to widen the track out back

Just ordered them today and got a tracking number- I'll post thoughts next week. I did provide them the specs on my truck as requested by them, so I'm not expecting any issues.

Any way to add a 40-gal. fuel tank in the back in tandem w/ stock sidesaddle tank?

Hey, whatever works. But the Suburban tanks like I'm talking about are a direct swap to my understanding- same chassis. It's just the plumbing and usage I'm trying to figure out.

Any way to add a 40-gal. fuel tank in the back in tandem w/ stock sidesaddle tank?

Dallas! I just remembered you're in Houston. Good call on the filler neck there- it may be lower, or at least mid-level, with the tank there if I'm remembering my Dad's 1998 Sub correctly... I like the ability with this to use one gauge! Right on with the camper build. It has changed my truck...

Did all H1s have mechanical fuel injection, or what was the cutoff for electronic?

I'm looking (casually, not seriously) at a 1995 H1. Does this 6.5 have mechanical or electronic fuel injection? From the SSDiesel site, it looks like electronic injection started for the 1996MY? Is that right?

My 1993 6.5 has a 9-blade plastic fan... has it and its clutch already been upgraded?

Thanks, Pavel- I'll add those checks to the list.

My 1993 6.5 has a 9-blade plastic fan... has it and its clutch already been upgraded?

Yep, 21"! Awesome. How often does one get to cross an upgrade off his list immediately for free? Thanks, FERMANATOR.

Any way to add a 40-gal. fuel tank in the back in tandem w/ stock sidesaddle tank?

Good deal. With my truck camper largely 'permanently' installed, I'm looking at either a classic license plate filler option (?) or manual transfer somehow using the standard single filler neck. I wonder if I could fab that up from an old Caprice or something. Recommendations on a transfer pump...

Any way to add a 40-gal. fuel tank in the back in tandem w/ stock sidesaddle tank?

I'm planning to relocate my spare tire (probably to a tow hitch receiver upright mount, still TBD) in order to free up space for fuel capacity. Has anyone hooked up one of the 40-gal. monsters from a Suburban to the stock sidesaddle fuel tank on the driver's side frame rail? Is there an...

My 1993 6.5 has a 9-blade plastic fan... has it and its clutch already been upgraded?

I'm looking at the Kennedy kit, but it appears I may have a Dmax fan already from a previous owner. It's a black plastic 9-blade unit. I want to make sure it's optimized before the Texas summer gets here. Thoughts?

Rear spacers OK to use? 1993 K3500, need to widen the track out back

Makes sense (re: steel), those are the ones I'll probably go with. Just due to the weight of the truck and camper, and probability of some light off-road work, I need just about the best available. These definitely aren't for show on a 1500! Thanks

Rear spacers OK to use? 1993 K3500, need to widen the track out back

See signature for why (re: big camper), but I'm hoping to bring them out safely a couple inches. If it's OK for my rig, what brand? Recommendations?

Is there a typical range for a 6.5 between rebuilds?

Great info as usual, folks. I appreciate the helpful tips. I might even be sleeping better at night already!

Is the trans speed sensor required? Previous owner unplugged due to rough idle

Great tips, guys- thanks. I'll add these to the list.

Is there a typical range for a 6.5 between rebuilds?

Thanks for the tips, guys- that's what I need. Leroy- your exhaust and ATT still have yet to go on but am hoping they will here in the next few weeks! Really looking forward to it. Btw, it's had recent injectors, but the truck isn't modded, and I don't plan to beyond the ATT and exhaust- stuff...
