GMT800 front brake question, 3500 SRW vs DRW

Thanks @THEFERMANATOR , was hoping you'd share your knowledge. Any insight as to why there's different part numbers then? Would it be similar to the GMT400 where the DRW has thicker rotors and therefore needs a wider caliper?

    BW4401 t-case

Here's the link, looks like he got it figured out in the end https://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/borg-warner-4401-t-case.3062/ In searching myself I can't find a rebuild kit that includes the clutch coil. Strange/ concerning that the problem part is hard to find. Keep us posted on what...

    BW4401 t-case

Sorry to hear it failed after such low mileage, any idea why? I recall there was another fellow on here about a year ago with the same issue, but he couldn't find any information on getting the case apart. I'll see if I can find the old thread and if he ever figured it out. Is there any other...

GMT800 front brake question, 3500 SRW vs DRW

I'm wondering if anyone knows for certain if there are any differences in the front brakes (caliper, hub, rotor, pads) between a GMT800 2500/3500 SRW and a 3500 dually/ cab & chassis I'm gathering parts for the GMT800 brake conversion for a GMT400 1 ton dump, and want the best braking...

    Frame woes

@Jetro9 here is a marketplace ad for one of the scrappers I was talking about. Located more so in Northeastern PA, but he also gets frames not just beds and fenders. If you don't use facebook let me know and I can see about getting his number. Good luck and keep us posted...

Brake upgrades using factory parts for GMT-400(88-00 OBS), and 94-99 DODGE 2500/3500

@drag sgt Here's a link to a thread specifically for the GMT800 conversion, worth reading all the way through. The page I'm linking to has a video which covers the swap where the fellow has the rare knuckles that don't need tie rod reaming and he uses the 800 series LCAs...

Brake upgrades using factory parts for GMT-400(88-00 OBS), and 94-99 DODGE 2500/3500

@n8in8or any chance you remember the part # for the QA1 tie rod sleeves used on "Krovvy?" Looks like a great upgrade to stock. I tried looking on QA1's website but they don't have an option to select a k2500 for cross reference, and over the phone I was told the only sleeve they have in 11/16"...

Brake upgrades using factory parts for GMT-400(88-00 OBS), and 94-99 DODGE 2500/3500

@drag sgt there are some unicorn knuckles from the early NBS ('99-'01 or something like that) from Non- HD 2500 trucks where the factory GMT400 tie rods will fit and the only reaming needed is for the ball joints. Hard to say what the wrecker yard will have until you get your hands on it. If...

    Frame woes

This is the best of my knowledge, but not gospel, so verify via your own measurements if you think you find a match the GMT400 88-98 platform had different cab and interior modifications over the years, but as far as I know the frames should be the same for each series. The GMT400 also ran into...

    Pro's and Con's

I dig the extra protection for the cooler 👍 for my dump truck I'm going to experiment with the Duramax LB7 radiator and charge air cooler in the stack. Want to have the fan pulling air through the CAC at all times and to have shorter piping from turbo to intake. Granted the engine will have...

Any interest in a centermount? Given your fab skills and the extra room in a squarebody I'd put money on you making it happen 🤘

The fellow I use is a Mennonite, so I don't know if he'd use anything digital anyways. I can give you his physical mailing address if you want to send a copy of the test results. He does use the phone so you could call him first to see if he'd work for your needs, just let me know.

Do you have test results you'd like help interpreting, or something else? I have a guy out here who I would send my samples to, he'd use a lab out in Ohio, Brookside labs, and then after getting the results back he'd come up with custom fertilizer blends for each sample. I'd do two separate...

    ARB Air Locker

I can't say from personal experience, but I know the specific tolerances of gear lash and whatnot are very important so if you're able to measure such things and/ or am not intimidated by them wouldn't hurt to try! What are you going to do for onboard air? Also here's a link to the installation...

    Engine oil cooler

Factory should be fine, if you want extra insurance have Chris coat it like he does radiators and A/C condensers

Are you using the water or solvent based undercoating? I couldn't find much on the differences/ benefits between the two.

    Engine oil cooler

I'll chime in from personal experience that the head coating makes a massive difference. My P400 heads don't have the EGR ports filled as it was not an option at the time my engine was built, but the runners and chambers are coated. Current engine that Chris is building for my dump truck is...

I've had great success with these zip ties. UV resistant and they do last at least several years if not longer in the field. https://www.bestdeerfences.com/product/10-inch-black-nylon-zip-lock-ties/

GMT 800 Brake Conversion > Silverado HD 2500

I didn't know it was required/ there was consensus that rear disc brakes require the 3500 HD master cylinder. Rear disc brake kits that convert drum 14 bolts don't say anything about needing to change the master cylinder, but I acknowledge there may be a difference in swapping to the 11.5 AAM 14...

you can get 10% concentrated vinegar from home depot, I think the name is "green gobbler", using just that will kill weeds without any real long term effects. Vineyards out here use it as an organic alternative to the cancer that is glyphosate/ roundup I wouldn't go the salt and vinegar route...
