Yesterday I deleted the ABS on my 98 K1500. The delete itself was easy enough, I used the proportioning valve off my 94 that's getting the Cummins so I need the Hydro boost for that. Hardest part was finding a tee fitting to tie the front brake lines to the single front outlet on the valve. Went...
I believe you are correct in that they are all steel but there is a difference in the way they are made. Not to say you couldn't make an older one work, IIRC they are different because of the evap system mounted in the corner. Diesel trucks shouldn't have an issue. I could be wrong about that!
I guess I was just sending out a compliment where I thought it was needed.
Maybe we just hear too much negative and not enough positive about people
I know quite often if I stop to help someone out, I hear "I can't believe you stopped! everyone has just been driving by"
And I'm right there with...
Let me check. I never throw out a decent battery box when I scrap out one of those trucks. I'm working today but I can check tonight.
I'm pretty sure I have one for the '88- 94 but IIRC there is a difference.
The problem with the world today is there aren't enough people like you, Will! Someone who is willing to take time out of their day and help a stranger in need is all to rare now days.
I bought one a few years back because it had the 6.5 mechanical but it had the NV4500. I got a great deal on it because the place that had it owned a tiltbed that had a 6.5 with DB4 pump that kept quitting whenever they took it out on a call. I diagnosed it for them and set them up with a remote...
I just happened to pop on to this thread, but IIRC the P30 vans were mechanical injection non turbo and if they were automatic transmission there was a stand alone controller under the seat to control the 4L80E. That controller was desirable if you were looking to go from DB4 to DB2 injection...
I have a Travel toolbox that I take when going on a trip. I have a lot of tools so I can keep it loaded with all the essential tools.
I used to work as a Truck/equipment mechanic so I had a big set at home, a bigger set at work and another another set on my service truck. Now I work at a Rest...
Check all your electrical connections. I had an experience on a 2 hour trip from home where mine would be charging one minute and not the next. Voltmeter kept getting lower and lower as I was nearing home, I even stopped and pulled the fuse for the daytime running lights. Thought for sure it was...
I was going to build a guard on mine to protect it. You could make it removeable for the summer and winter time it wouldn't need as much air flow to work anyway. Especially in Montana!
On my 94 C3500 that I used to have, I mounted a cooler (27"x12"x3") at an angle under the bumper, routed the hoses up through the the corner of the inner fender and then to the turbo and intake. Used a "marine intake adapter" on the engine. Universal piping kit from eBay and a couple adapters. I...
The motors very seldom go bad. I'd try the switch first. The motor reverses polarity for up and down so if that doesn't work you can pull the door panel and unplug the wiring from the motor and hook a battery or jump pack directly to it, try both ways and if it works the problem is in the wiring...
I had the day off today and my 10 degree taper showed up so up to the shop to see how it fits. Taper seems to be right on. Couldn't fit the knuckles in my drill press (not tall enough) so I mounted it in my 3 legged Harbor freight vise to try it out. Went on slow speed really carefully and kept...
