Shift lever moves with no resistance

The shift cable has something like a button where the two ends meet. It is released when a new cable is installed, I forget the process but you run the shifter back and forth then stop in a certain location. The button is then pushed in to lock the adjustment. Sounds like the cable may have...

    My former LBZ

I was unaware you sold your LBZ Mike, I guess I should pay more attention. If I was going to buy a used truck, you would be at the top of my list.

Big name tuners are no longer selling "off road/race" tuning

I was polite, giving you a link to a site that you could follow and give an observation. You know nothing about Fort Mac, it is a natural occurring oil spill that is being cleaned up by the development there. No slave labor either. You are a? Rhymes with plick. Oh, I forgot to say, the...

Big name tuners are no longer selling "off road/race" tuning

Oh, I forgot, the only reason my local wind farm got built, was because of carbon credits sold to California.

    Radiator Leak

You can use air to test a tank, attach a psi gauge somewhere and don't go over 5 psi, we usually only went to 2.5 psi testing tanks.

Reserve or oh shit fuel tank

I wouldn't wait for the tank to swell, air makes a bomb out of a tank, then when you remove the air hose you'll have fuel spraying all over. Inspect the cap, it should be obvious if it is vented.

    Radiator Leak

They like to sell o-rings singularly for big bucks. JD mostly uses oddball sizes not found in o-ring kits. I'll take a pic if I remember of a little bag that cost $80 to fix a hydraulic bank on a 4250 tractor.

    ATT Exhaust Side Leak

Welding the washer to the stud is easy compared to welding the inside of a nut to the stud. weld around the perimeter of the nut to the washer. leave enough of the nut to put a wrench on it. The extra heat also helps to loosen the stud. Yes, don't cool the weld, you want it to cool slowly...

    ATT Exhaust Side Leak

It should take the temper out of it, softening it.

    ATT Exhaust Side Leak

If it shears off, weld a washer to the stud, then weld a nut to the washer.

Could be the rearend is locked up.

    Intermittent loss of overdrive

All I can think of off hand is the coolant crossover temp switch. If the coolant isn't read as being up to temp, no overdrive. Or maybe it's TCC lockup?

I can't see anything wrong with supporting that bar, if anything the chain will run more true.
