Just wondering if people are running 5w/40 in their trucks. And if so was the oil pressure any lower with it vs. 15w/40. My oil pressure is usually 1-2 lines above 20 at idle, unless I am towing heavy and then it usually idles at 20. Was just wondering because I was thinking of switching to...
I would fix it. Especially with all you have done. Who assembled the reman engine? Wondering if old(stretched) head bolts were used or not torqued correctly?
It didn't look like the compressor clutch was engaged? Was it? If it wasn't, it could be the compressor clutch pulley bearing. But I am not seeing how grabbing the line would quiet the bearing. Are you sure the compressor or line isn't vibrating on something and when you grab it, it is...
I thought they had more power than that stock. I have always heard that the 6.5L with all the mods is about the power of a stock later model diesel, so I was just thinking his Dodge should do better than that. But, I just looked it up and in 2003 Dodge was 235 HP(CA model) 250HP(49 state...
I read a thread online about frame beaming on the GMT800 trucks, so I looked into it a little more and there was a guy who did a write-up on putting the hydraulic body mounts(2 rear mounts only) from a 2011 on up in the GMT400 body style. Cost me $150 for the 2 rear mounts, insulators, and...
Sorry. Just noticed he was asking about standard cab, mine is a crew cab. Only mod was to barely hog out the hole in the frame it goes down through. Probably about 1/16" or less total.
I just installed the 2011 rear 2 body mounts on my truck. And it did make a difference in the way it rides. I am happy I did it. I got everything from my local chevy dealership for $150. Anybody who spends a lot of time in their truck, I think would be glad they did it. All I have next is...
Was wondering the same thing. I know the engine in my truck has 506 in the valley. And I just looked at a long block I acquired and it has 506 in the valley, 125555506, E148. So I'm thinking that is a 98 block? Dealer history wise, my engine has never been replaced and I bought the truck...
Did the feed the beast and ATT in April before I took a trip to Walker River towing the trailer and my lift pump died on that trip. So I have a new Walbro from Leroy, but I do want to get a fuel pressure gauge mounted permanently(on Xmas list). So is best way for checking for air to put in a...
How long have you driven it? It seemed to take mine about 2 weeks or longer for the smoke to chill out some. But then again I only drive 1.6 miles to get to my shop. I still get smoke when I want too. I don't know if I just got used to driving it, but I really don't get smoke now unless I...
So, I was reading through my old MAXXTORQUE magazines and found a Q&A about this exact thing and it says it's probably an injection pump. is there anything else it can be? It started out by doing it once every 6 months or so. Then it went to every couple months, now it's usually every week or...
Yeah. Don't go cheap. My business partner has an Excursion and he didn't want to pay $200-$300 a bearing. Went with cheaper ones and they lasted 3 months. Make sure you torque axle nut to spec.
I was not sure about sending it back to him(I had the GLE for my GM8) after a couple conversations with him. But, I figured for what he said he would charge me to reflash, I would give him a shot. It smoked quite a bit off idle if you gave it 1/4 throttle or more. But the power was really...
I think you will love it. I sent mine back to Bill and am pretty happy with it. A little more smoke at low rpm's if you get on it kind of hard, but I well worth it to have him reflash it. Can't wait to hear what you think.
They are also used for support. Not real common but bell housings have broken because of the distance from engine to transfer case mount is so far. So they went away from the tin one that is on 2wd to the thicker aluminum one for 4wd. And I'm just not sure if the extra vibration and torque of...
