I see that it already has a good set of parking brakes, so what is with the rear disk conversion? :)
For the transmission, end goal of a rat-rod is screaming stick. But maybe that is just me.
A family member re-gifted one of the jungle's hockey puck voice assistant thingys to me. No way I would re-gift that thing further and it got tossed in the recycle bin.
Is this for the '99? If so, recommend getting a scanner and reading the PCM's live data to see if it is just the sending unit (and / or wire), or the coolant is actually behaving that way. Point is, the gauge's sending unit is also a culprit and by reading from the PCM, it is a cross-check to...
If the truck has 4.XX gearing, can see where lag is not noticeable with the ATT.
I did get some with the 3.37s / 4L80E and could feel the power difference when the turbo hit its sweet spot. Not a big deal though.
With 3.42s and the NV4500, I could easily eliminate lag by keeping RPM's in the...
Also hope that GM learned its lesson from the last time the H! pounded the earth and played in the true 4WD market.
When it came time for purchase decisions, there were basically two at that level: the H1 and GWagon.
Hummer priced at ~$100K. And it was LOUD!
GWagon priced at ~$75K, came with...
FWIW, the ATT had no effect on fuel economy in the Burb.
If anything, I saw the ATT as a win for the motor as it developed the same amount of power at 12 - 13 psi as the Holsets reportedly do at 20+
Ditching the wastegate was another win for the ATT as this allowed removal of the vacuum pump...
If there is *no* towing in the plans, consider using 190*F. Can safely state that running up and down 81, 76, and 95 with either all seats loaded or stuffed to the gills did nothing to the temperature gauge.
But if we are looking at towing, that is a *completely* different beast. If you...
Get an external gauge for coolant temp. The OE dash gauge is more like an indicator rather than actual measurement.
For squeezing more economy out of the rig without sacrificing dependability, synthetic lubes for less parasitic loss and a tune for better torque converter lock-up. The tuner...
FWIW, Ford came out with a warning about the glycol antifreeze catching fire when people tried to use the 7.3 SuperDuty as an ambulance without the ambulance package. Point is, not all coolant is immune to combustion when the system is pushed to extremes ;)
Produced by Evans.
Pros are:
} the motor will self-destruct before this stuff boils, so in theory it can use higher temperature thermostats. But even with this, I run thermostats based on the mission and not the coolant. The selling point here is that it will resist cavitation (boiling at a...
And then there is the path of the few whom use no water. Only real downside is that it gets expensive when there is a leak. The manufacturer offers free testing for helping determine when to replace.
And one more thing for while you are there. Get another set of o-rings for the CCV 'doghouse'. At this age, it probably has a fair amount of restriction from oil vapors congealing on the internal mesh. The more restricted the mesh, the more blow-by wants to find other paths out of the...
Based on the last photo, it looks like there is some soot coming out of passenger side uppipe.
If so, now is a good time to ditch those doughnut style pipes for the IH style bellows uppipe. Can go cheap with Dorman OE doughnut style, or check out RiffRaff for IH bellows.
FWIW, when changing...
Have noticed the occasional spec of mystery content in the fuel jugs as well. Even with that, have not run into any issues with the equipment. Do not worry about cleaning-out the occasional spec-o-stuf as all the equipment has a fuel filter of some kind.
Usually get fuel in a batch by...
The Harpoon mod is to eliminate a condition which creates a LOT of foaming during the fill. After doing the Harpoon mod, it is possible to use the big-rig pumps without blowing foam out the filler neck.
FWIW, filling this tank 100% is actually not possible as there are two chambers which trap...
No matter which option for the filler neck, the Harpoon Mod should help as it will reduce foaming while adding fuel. If not already familiar with this tank, the last 3 gallons take as long to dribble-in as the first 35 took to go full blast.
I have seen custom installs with the filler neck...
Pickup tube looks good :) Might consider checking-out the Harpoon mod as this will make the fills easier.
CTS3 will work nicely with the 7.3. The only reading it does not get is ECT as the PCM does not get this value. There is a dash gauge for coolant temp, but God alone knows what it really...
