Poor man ways to soften the ride quality on 1 ton 2wd Crew Cab

This looks like a lot of work to me. Get a bunch of used 55 gallon drums and fill them with water. The extra weight will make the rig ride like it is on a cloud. Bonus is this will cost far less than replacement suspenion parts and is also a LOT easier to install :D

Boat dock Electrical safety ? GFCP with GFCI

Soo... You're trying to tell me that I cannot do the penny challenge in a new house? Well that's just shocking!

    1988 franken-truck

I let morons ride my tail all they want. A big-ole stainless steel bumper will do a lot more to the other vehicle than what the other vehicle will do to it. The current daily driver has a manual transmission mated to a hefty diesel, so it can dump speed rather fast without touching the brakes...

    1988 franken-truck

Welcome to TTS! Good information! Question: what is the question? From the details, it looks like one goal is to install 4WD but the oil filter is in the way. In OE form, the GMT400's oil filter was probably an afterthought as there is *extremely* little room for removing it due to the front...

    Dually conversion

Welcome to TTS! Definitely do *not* need a dually for 7,500 pounds. Some current production SUV's can handle that weight and remain stable. Only advantage a dually gets is reducing the need for 4WD as there are already four wheels doing the work. But the costs are two more wheels when it...

Iam 0lder, just like My motorcoach. It has A 454 gas engine, Think that big thing Would be better with a diesel . Any suggestions would be great

Welcome to TTS! Is it better to get rid of the 454 for a diesel? Depends. New diesel? Not if the system needs DEF. And what motorcoach? I had a buddy whom had a Class B with the GM 6.0L gas v8 and 6 speed tranny. Claimed that he got 10 mpg running up and down the East Coast when limiting...

    Our New house

While not able to foresee the future, purchasing a house right now is not looking good from an investment standpoint. Am seeing where listing times are starting to stretch out again. Interest rates are going up. And people are actually getting called back to the workplace and needing to...

    Truck value

The used vehicle market is completely whack right now. MrMarty's link is a good example of that. Try looking at asking prices for Ferds of the same era and it will really blow the mind. Some of them push into the mid $20K range. At the moment this nuttiness is due to shortages of new...

    looking for newer truck

Got some bad news. That line was crossed. And not a single shot was fired. Despite a driver's license physically sitting in your wallet, RealID turned it into a digital ID complete with facial recognition ability, fingerprint(s) and financial account information. Oh, and it is RFID readable...

    looking for newer truck

Yes, I totally get peer pressure. And that is exactly why I got the nearly new SUV which which replaced the Burb. Wife never liked the Burb. Only really got the newer SUV as I knew the wife would love it and I was tired of the Burb needing too much unscheduled love. The newer thing had...

    looking for newer truck

There are two ways to look at this: 1) Will repairs exceed the vehicle's value. 2) Investing in future use of a reliable platform with the intent to keep as long as possible. Caveat is that spare parts remain commonly available. Only downside to this path is whether any of today's technology...

Plumbing done, on to the next....

Could not see from the photos on whether there was a ECT sensor in the head. Or more specifically, if one is not in the port by cylinder #8, might consider this. Benefits are twofold. Serves as a stand-by should the primary ECT sending unit by unplugging from #1 and connecting to the port...

    Toro 220D tach Misubishi L3C

Isn't there a gizmo which straps to one of the injection lines and is able to measure the fuel pulse? IIRC, Leroy had them for sale for a while.
