    Upper control arms.

Your right about Napa prices. They are definitely much more expensive than anyplace else.I have four tie rods and pitman arm which are fleet line on the way for my 96 gmc.One of my tie rods right now won’t accept any grease and the same goes for the new pitman arm I just put on.The pitman arm is...

Fleet line by Napa is much better quality. It costs much more but it’s definitely worth it.

    Need more bolt sizes

Definitely can’t beat the arp starter bolts. My 5.7 olds diesel would always break the outer bolt due to vibration, etc but after switching to arp maybe 18yrs ago I never had a starter bolt break since.

Those drums are much, much easier to remove than the 2011-2015 gmc 4500 cutaway vans I’ve worked on.The side axle has to come out first with nut, keyway, etc and then the hub is attached to the drum because of the axle studs through the drum and into the hub.

    Someone help me understand this!!

Yeah nothing worse than a tailgater.Wherever I go there’s always someone riding my tail.

You need to watch out for the skp brand as well.Sometimes that doesn’t work out either.Skp control arms might be okay but I’ve never used them. I’ve had slight problems with a idler pulley on my Pontiac Montana van as it wouldnt fit properly unless I came up with a plan to make it fit as...

I’ve just used the torch and cut the cross out altogether. The cups always came out pretty easy after that.

A couple days ago I changed the oil and filter on my 96 gmc with the 6.2.I used the T6 5W40 with Napa platinum filter.I ordered some rotella T6 15W40 synthetic from Amazon to have when the warmer weather comes by again later on as I can’t get the 15W40 where I am but 5W40 is readily...

Dbrannon, While we were discussing decals I figured I’d show the type of decal I’m having made for another engine I’m rebuilding.I know this isn’t GMT400 info I’m about to show but I’m having 4 of these decals made locally for my 1981 350 diesel rebuild.I think these will look great on the...

A few days ago I put new 6.5 diesel turbo decals on the crease of the hood upon my 96 gmc.The old decals were badly faded and hardly noticeable.I had silver duplicates made that were purchased from eBay.It looks much better now that’s for sure.

    Crank position sensor

I have one new acdelco 6.5 balancer I got from rockauto 3 or 4 years ago I plan to use on my 87 6.2 rebuild.I probably should have bought an extra one at that time since now those are dried up bigtime in regards to availability.

    Crank position sensor

Your pretty lucky to find one.Almost as rare as finding hens teeth on the side of the road.

In the next day or so I’m heading to the machine shop to drop off my 87 6.2 diesel block, crank and rods.I’ve had this engine about 13 years with about 400KM on it.It was very reliable but tough to start in cold weather unless plugged in.It was burning some oil but not a whole lot so I figured it...

I’ve had one new Napa proformer pitman arm that would accept grease either. No matter what the grease wouldn’t go into the joint.

It was tie rods I put on my truck some 7yrs ago from eBay when I bought a front end kit for my truck.Might have been some cheaper brand maybe. Not really sure.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

A few days ago I ordered 4 Napa tie rods with adjustment sleeves for my 96 gmc with the 6.2.It’s their FLEET line which I find is better quality than their proformer line of front end parts. The proformer appears to be a cheaper version.I have one tie rod on the truck right now that won’t accept...
