    TACH signal from alternator

..with tech 1A scantool detected the TACH gap I increased RPM with scantool to read 2000 RPM at tach...and it reported a reading of 1406 RPM to crankshaft ****600RPM gap***** I must been very conservative with my foot on the accelerator over the years...too much😁 in reality I never gave...

    TACH signal from alternator

as the circuit board upgrade project is not progressing.... today i tried to measure OD of the alternator shaft, for have the right pulley for it. shaft it is practically at the level of the nut. to be sure of OD shaft I would have to remove the pulley. but it should be a 17mm like the other...

alternator that looks new, had a very short life, started giving problems when it was hot, and was replaced by the AD-244 that I have now .... given the problems with the CS-130 models, I preferred to change for the better and focus on a more reliable model this also has an OD 56mm at groove...

so I went to fish out my old alternators from the cartons piled up in the warehouse, among other spare parts,... the old one had been changed by the dealer in emergency, for a broken rectifier, and has a OD 56mm at groove (gasser pulley). maybe they installed what they had stock, without...

but what shocked me is the pulley ODs I assumed it was the small pulley for the gassers, it's actually even smaller, a billet 50mm OD - 42mm OD on the groove:eek:

to remove the pulley i would have to remove the alternator and i don't have suitable tools to remove the pulley, i wouldn't know how to stop the shaft without ruining the alternator, i have not an open tool for nut and stop the hallen centered on shaft. and i should also measure the shim behind...

Luckily I measured the pulley today to give you the measurements shaft tread of the alternator that remains outside the nut is very little, it is practically at the level of the nut. to be sure of the diameter of the shaft I would have to remove the pulley but it should be a 17mm like the other...

Hi, DieselAmateur First of all I have to thank you for your kindness I think the pulleys are interchangeable from GM alternator to GM alternator, but I don't know for sure have an AC-244 alternator, please make sure the pulley you have will fit AC-244. this is my address: Celleghin...

    TACH signal from alternator

with the right pulley or circuit board also, Tach will not read so accurate as an ECM crankshaft reading

    TACH signal from alternator

YES, as I said before, the circuit is specific for diesels, this circuit board #16183928E has the same number of later gassers too, it has the same base board, but the circuit components are different, precisely because tach signal for later gasser is not taken from the alternator, also odometer...

    TACH signal from alternator

Thank You for interest the problem is not just finding this pulley, but find a seller who ships it overseas, (seller you posted for example doesn't),..... and if you then find a seller who ships, he apply absurdly expensive shipping rates... to give you an example for a simple bolt $140...

    TACH signal from alternator

Thank you very much MrMarty51, but i don't want it for free ...but i prefer not to be constrained to the diameter of the old diesel alternator pulley anymore, IF i can do it, not sure i can..... i prefer to try upgrading cirbuit board, but without information it will be impossible

    TACH signal from alternator

to access this cirtuit board you have to completely disassemble the instrument cluster, it is under the front gauges pannel, no one will disassemble, if hasn't problems, if hasn't to replace some stepper motors but there is no one who has access to this part? an old broken donor instrument...

yes Will L. it is exactly like that, as RPM increases the gap increases

    TACH signal from alternator

read first post...for more GMT400 platform diesel always read RPM from alternator (later gas no) 95 and earlier need diesel pulley on alternator (2-5/8" OD) 96 and later read correct RPM with smaller gasser pulley (2-3/8" OD) alternator must have correct size pulley for model year TACH

    TACH signal from alternator

not my case, all pressure gauges work properly and are calibrated with the exception of the speedometer, because it is designed to read the revolutions with the diesel pulley which has a larger diameter. my 95 instrument cluster look the same of later model, but with old concept of a dedicated...

    TACH signal from alternator

my Yucon is 95 so to read the correct RPM i must have diesel pulley on alternator (2-5/8" OD) upgraded my alternator to CS-244, more reable, and works fine from more then 10 years but it cames with gasser pulley, also later diesel alternators 96-99 works with smaller gasser pulley (2-3/8" OD)...

I think you just need to be reassured if it helps I have already used and tried the modified BXPY.bin file with the $EC.2.xdf definition file .... and it is now working on my PCM
