    TACH signal from alternator

what posted is a clutch pulley for AD244 17mm shaft, and it can be installed without problem were invented to reduce vibration and extend the life of belts and accessories under severe conditions, the benefit is there, but they need to be replaced at regular intervals, say every 100k miles, if...

    TACH signal from alternator

tell the truth, having chosen to go with OD 57mm, I also thought about installing a clutch pulley (with only 0.3mm backspace difference). has the advantage of further limiting vibrations but then I decided to not complicate my life further. a fixed pulley has a very long life compared to clutch...

    TACH signal from alternator

no, previus alternator was CS-130 (3 x CS-130 alternators in my Yucon story) Then in 2012 I decided to install alternator with a better reputation for reliability and with more amperage ...and upgraded to AD244 new pulley 57mm for AD244 bought monday on ebay, i am waiting delivery .... (...

    TACH signal from alternator

on old alternator model CS-130 the gasser pulley was OD 56mm...i got 2 of this with 230 and later alternator the pulley has OD 57mm diesel and gasser but you can swap for a lower or bigger OD pulley available for the model

    TACH signal from alternator

Hi DieselAmateur, I have to thank you for your availability and kindness not having heard from you since, ... thought your pulley didn't have the correct seat size for the alternator then doing calculations I preferred the compromise of OD 57mm pulley over OD 62mm, in order not to lose too much...

    TACH signal from alternator

come on guys!!! you'll be happy to know that the initial project is definitely back in the limelight🤣😂😂🤣

    TACH signal from alternator

I preferred go with OD 57mm for not to lose too much on amperage output not that hard to find online with overseas shipping, bought it on ebay. now i will have to wait 3 to 4 weeks....:dead:

    TACH signal from alternator

presumable, indeed very likely that it is an OEM 145A at 10000 rev and reaches 180A only with overspin at 13/14k rev it wouldn't surprise me presence of the small pulley leads me to think this absolutely in line with the usual commercial tactics

    TACH signal from alternator

to make it as clear as possible the alternator is an electricity generator faster the rotor spins, more electricity will be produced, up to its output limit if other factors do not change, temperature, ect. rotor speed is the only variable can be represented by a parabola that increases, until...

    TACH signal from alternator

this is an AD244 alternator 180A output, with 100A at idle, this amperage is due with the over spin from a very small 42.60mm pulley. now, if i swap pulley with a 57mm pulley, output amperage comeback to stock amperage 130/150A - 140A is acceptable, which is the amperage I expect going with a...

    TACH signal from alternator

temperature could also be tested but the lower amperage is a given

    TACH signal from alternator

in light of all this.... I will have to resurrect the initial project to have the correct tach 😂🤣😂

    TACH signal from alternator

whereas this AD-244 HD is 180A but amperage output comes with a small 42.60mm pulley that pushes it further.... should give 145A with a 57mm pulley with a 62mm ??? I don't know, but certainly less also the internal fans must run well to cool the alternator, and going on a bigger pulley maybe I...

    TACH signal from alternator

ERRATA CORRIGE in the post #30 I declared the ratio of 1:10 it's actually not fair at all by dint of calculating circumferences, I abounded :banghead: :banghead: and calculated the circumference over circumference value of crankshaft pulley I APOLOGIZE FOR THAT the correct ratio is 1 : 3.136...

what may differ is the rear pulley spacer, the distance from the shaft housing and the pulley seat. 2 pulleys I have here 56mm OD don't have the right spacer, them are 9mm, and the right distance is 6.5mm it is essential to have the right distance, in order not to wear out the belt

    TACH signal from alternator

if you have a 57mm OD on the groove, it is not so bad...would like discover the 56mm OD pulley was for earlier models gasser and erlier model alternators

    TACH signal from alternator

discussion of alternators and the pulley GM designed for them, has its limits from 96 the pulley is a 57mm (or less) as gasser they also changed the alternator, I hope CS-130 was a piece of shit my yucon, had 3 of this,... last one with very short life then i go to AD-244...is there from 2012...

    TACH signal from alternator

i will today have better measures with digital caliper and pulley OD for calibrate tach must have OD 60.885mm = 61mm OD more close to 62mm diesel pulley

    TACH signal from alternator

therefore I did some calculations to have it calibrated correctly I measured the circumference of the crankshaft pulley 600mm (602mm)...alternator pulley circumference...some proportions and I found the calibrated ratio is 1:10 1 pulley crankshaft revolution = 10 pulley alternator revolutions...
