for accurate reading have digital numbers from ECM on 8" screen with app, and not for TACH only...
it is well known a signal from alternator is not accurate also if you have the right pulley OD
but why not have an accurate tach reading, or more than now, without other tinsel...if it is...
new 57mm pulley (part 24-1272) for AD244 alternator delivered and installed.
real groove diameter is 56.60mm, less than declared
this will increase the gap between RPM and tach reading from planned diameter and tach reading, some further gap that expected
that it was only B&S the contractor for GM or AC Delco, it is not known...
but part was marked B&S, yes
a very small symbol, but it is present both on Harmonic Balance and on Crankshaft pulley in my case ... and both were there from the factory
on the crankshaft pulley, there are only two things to take into consideration, which make the difference:
1) balancing (some products on the market are not balanced by the manufacturer)
2) the quality of the rubber insert. this is the biggest problem that affects the life of this spare part...
the original pulley made in USA by Briggs & Stratton is always there in service after about 200k miles and 28 years later, have a PowerBond pulley stored when will happen
ACDelco GM Original Equipment 12557345 Crankshaft Pulley, not made in USA, where??.. i don't know...
DAYCO PB1194N PowerBond Premium available now on Rockauto
made in Australia (my best choise)
Dorman crankshaft pulley, only if you buy with life warranty, someone, time ago had this warranty from...
smile when someone goes to spend a lot of money on a fluid dumper or a better harmonic balancer, but then bolts a fixed pulley on it
where is the improvement?🤷♂️
think if GM put there a dumper pulley there was a reason, it would have cost much less to put a fixed pulley when they progected this engine,...know is another part need to change before or later, and would like not to change part for money saving, a fixed pulley has very long life vs OEM
but...
this is the latest manual version ARMY TM 9-2815-237-34P (for what i know) as integration and support of the old ARMY TM-9-2815-237-34.pdf
want to share with who need it
you can check easy with a scan tool, if DES timing is closed to ACT timing, timing chain is in spec.....
but if you need change because you are working on the area, or is near to go out of spec because is stretced, ... why change chain only, for the tedios job i will change all, remenber to...
you have automatic transmission on yours.... i would like to go with a 14cm at least, better with an exaust machimed to turbine shaft wheel 67x76mm 10 blade .... billet 60x80mm to compressor side, it will spool up very quickly, and a good exaust ratio, ...if you add fuel you will must work on...
think I have identified how to correct the odometer from miles to kms
the tach signal would been more complicated to correct
so a circuit board from a DIESEL 96-99 US MPH instrument cluster WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION will be fine for swap
found an used 97 circuit board online for $15....but...
no puller pulley is needed
it is a simple slide in, if the pulley don't slide off, may be there is rust formed between pulley and alternator shaft, spay some wd40 or similar, a few taps with a rubber mallet and pulley should slide off.
there are cases in which rust is very resistant, so need...
for now I'll settle for a slightly altered reading from the TACH
this when 57mm pulley will arrive :banghead:
I will have to wait patiently for delivery as usual:depressed:
then a little luck would be enough, quite a lot 😂🤣😂 .... and find the circuit board
this instead https://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1192/category_id=694/mode=prod/prd1192.htm
is a system that allows you to calibrate the TACH from a signal coming from the alternator, it can also be used for other functions.
the price would be acceptable...
