    My 2005 Yukon XL

Starting to come up with plans for the Yukon, we have a few trips planned the end of this year into next. Florida after Christmas for 2-weeks, then Outerbanks for a week in 2025 on spring break for a baseball clinic with the kids. Were looking at over 4K-miles coming up. I've got another big...

Project "Got Milk" - Yamaha Cart

Update here. Ran the cart up until August of 2023 with zero issues. I had it turned up fairly hot, to just a couple RPM below redline to attempt to keep up with the 670 Predator cart. It ran extremely respectable for what it was. Very happy with the performance. My batteries died in my run...

Glad to see your still at it! I need to do a few of the tasks on my Yukon XL you talked about here, specifically rear A/C (mine is bypasses where only the front works), body mounts, blend doors, etc. Where did you end up getting the mounts? I have 1 roasted right now.

    1969 IH 1300D 4X4 - Pump Truck

Welp, the B-pillar needed 2 more rounds of sanding, leading to a couple thin spots. Moving forward I need to sacrifice leaving some of the scratches to avoid this further. 2 rounds of rubbing compoud and then 2 rounds of polishing compound. Next up will be the upper window trim and then...

They are definitely hand painted, this truck has the original lacquer paint job too. That's why I am trying to put the effort into it, at this point a whole paint job would be easier!

I'm afraid, I don't want to lose any of them. Figured I'd cross that bridge when I get there.

More for the day. This one shows my burn through on the drivers side from a dent I didnt notice. Got the roof completely waxed. Also removed the mirrors carfully and placed aside for better access to the drip rail and eventually doors. Working on the passenger a-pillar, drip trim, passenger...

    1969 IH 1300D 4X4 - Pump Truck

Some pictures of my worst burn-throughs. I got overzealous on the front passenger rooftop corner, as well as finding a dent near the far left (DS) cab light! The corner was burnt through during the 3M rubbing compound phase and the dent was during sanding. Hard to get good pics in the back bay...

I agree they look very similar to other units, these do actually have International stamped in them. However, I bet a lot are identical.

From what the Binder Forums state, some Kenworths used "similar" marker lights and I may be able to find some that arent exactly signal-stat brand. There is a NOS set on eBay right now, for a slim price of $1K.

Tried to polish the chrome lights. They are very pitted. I need to find the gasket bases for these as mine are crumbling. Also performed more wetsanding in the front drivers corner, and tops of the A-pillars. Ready for rubbing compound and polish next time.

    1969 IH 1300D 4X4 - Pump Truck

Got half the roof buffed with 3M rubbing compound and polished with the Ultimate Compound. Just wow, so impressed. You can see a few of the burn through spots in the overall pic. The rubbing compound is brutal, the pad plugs up so fast but to remove the cracking/scratches I need to take a bunch off.

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Got the secondary battery tray finished and installed. Put the secondary battery in its new home. Just need plumbing to finish.

Exactly why I want to do this. Not too often you hear original lacquer paint.

    1969 IH 1300D 4X4 - Pump Truck

Got a small 1' x 1.5' corner polished well over lunch today. Some deeper scratches still there but unbelievebly better. Hard to show the shine with the drywall tape reflections above! I need to step-up the product game, and get better applicators, micro fiber towels, and other supplies. This is...

    1969 IH 1300D 4X4 - Pump Truck

Bought some 3M Super Duty Rubbing Compound off Summit to start this process. Hope to have it in a week, was a bit hard to find! I did another test spot and the ultra-fine 3M compound and Meguiars compound I used previously cant handle some of the left over sanding marks. I assume with the area...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Finally determined I had a battery issue. Assuming a cell was going bad. So far so good, I purchased 2-batteries for my future secondary install once I get the mounting plate finished. Old battery was dated 2018. I did get a cheaper lower CCA battery only 600 when it had an 800 in it knowing I...

    1969 IH 1300D 4X4 - Pump Truck

Got the back half sanded up to 3k, front is up to 1.2k. Not much progress as Ive been busy at work over lunches. I'm sure there will be some additional touch ups but I hope to do some polishing tomorrow to check my work.

Went back to HF and picked up a 6'' hook and loop backing pad for my dads DA polisher. Should have all the equipment now. On the road for work today so no progress to report.
