Seems like there's just as many people that say they have the problem as there are that say they don't. Honestly don't know the correlation or if some people's ears just don't pick up the frequency? Hard to say.
#1 : 2700 RPM isn't scary
#2 : We abhor the NV4500
We can't run the K47 with 4" inlet turbos. Even if you adapt it, it can't flow enough. We can, however, adapt the resonator tube into our 4" intakes and see how it goes.
We've definitely been considering trying to add resonator tubes to the intake. We doubted that anyone actually tried it yet but figured it was worth asking.
That makes me think we could try a Banks plenum since we have a j-code intake on one truck. Just to see what the difference is and how it...
This is purely for our two trucks right now. Just trying to figure the right path to go down so we can enjoy the trucks more. Anytime you want to go somewhere around here, you end up on the highway for extended periods and keeping it at 55-60 mph isn't an option. The engine setups we have are...
A not so fun part of making more power with a 6.5 that we run into is the annoying intake resonance they can produce. The factory plenum, turbo, and air intake had intentional design features to get rid of most of it, but all that goes away in favor of moving more air through the engine.
Has...
We discussed that before since it's a manual and wouldn't be too bad to swap. This thing has been plagued for years for Wayne stemming way back to GM putting a reman pump on it for no reason during the recall periods in '95. At the same time, they messed with the fuel supply system and probed...
Negative. We don't get too involved with oil on these since there's too many choices that work perfectly fine in an engine that needs it changed early due to soot levels.
I'm back!
The advance piston is not sticking since actual & desired timing match up. That's an easy one to diagnose.
Is DTC 35 or 36 triggering at all? Will give you a call because the numbers are a bit high for injection pulse width and could contribute to the issue.
When these issues happen and the pump is the cause then you'll typically see c-time (closure time) out of spec. It doesn't throw a code because the diagnostic routine doesn't run until the engine is warmed up. Thus why I mentioned it.
You specifically mentioned a stuck advance piston and I...
Too many DB2 references in here! The DS4 has full control over its timing advance at all times the engine is running. The small pre-positioning spring in the advance bore of the DS4 just sets the piston in a slightly advanced position when the engine is shut down so it's already advanced on...
If the advance piston had a sticking issue then it would instantly trigger a timing DTC when desired and actual timing didn't match up. The DS4's pre-position advance spring is only used until the motor is running, then the stepper motor takes over and the computer is controlling timing.
If...
Just happened in the past 2 weeks to one of our competitors we were chatting with. And they have more years under their belt than your buddy+ Stanadyne & Bosch certifications. We won't even rebuild your pump currently....was just giving some insight into why you get the answers you do.
The is a good reason most reputable shops are going to quote you book labor and parts + seals to rebuild it. It is dangerous to spin a pump and you actually have to physically put your hands on the pump to properly set it up while bringing the RPM up above the light load advance on a DB2. You...
Pretty much the best DIY scanner on the market now IMO. Since it reads all the manufacturer specific modules, codes, and live data, you can't lose. And you get basic graphing capabilities in their app as well. People assume it's just another cheap OBD reader but it's in a league of its own.
Only part I couldn't figure out was the BW-4401 TCase like I have on the '98. Other than drawing up the input and having it made new, there wasn't a solution I could find.
The PCS box is just a passthru to take your analog inputs and put them on the bus so the trans can read them. All your 'TUNING' is done to the transmission's valve body TCM via HPTuners. Also takes other things like switch inputs for profile switching, tap shifting, converter lockup, etc. Good...
