Yes I was wondering about a pilot bearing on an automatic trans. I talked to the trans. shop about a pilot bearing application on an automatic trans. and he told me that some times when they do a LS engine swap they do use a pilot bearing. He told me to take the washers and bolts out and slide...
Bear with me guys. A little confused. Will L you stated our buddy from AZ nailed it and a pilot bearing should be in the end of the crankshaft. Maybe I read it wrong. The converter does have a protrusion like a nose cone sticking out sticking out the front that does slide into the back...
Will L didn’t see you post before I posted mine. Are you saying there should be a pilot bearing or bushing in the end of the crankshaft like on the manual transmissions?
Thanks guys for your inputs. As I mentioned in my earlier post the new converter had a 1/4” gap between the flex plate. See the pic in my earlier post. The converter was not binding up. The gaps were never that big on all the ones I have ever done. I talked to the trans. shop that...
Hi guys, I have my torque converter sorted out. I used washers to take up the gap. Thanks for all your input. I do have some more questions pertaining to my build. Snowdrift I really like your post on your 95’ build mines a 95’ also. I did use your idea on routing the...
I checked it looks ok? Just worried about the gap between the flex plate and the converter. All the ones I ever did the gap wasn’t that big. I am going to call the transmission shop.
Hi all finally got my new Optimizer set in my truck. I went ahead and bolted the rebuilt 4L80E trans to it and set it in all by myself. I didn’t install torque converter bolts before I set the motor in didn’t want to get under it while it was on the hoist. When I got under the truck to install...
Thanks Paveltolz. I think I’m going to get the the new motor in and get it fired up with the OEM pump (already have it) and FTB mod.first.
See where I’m at w/ the fuel pressures.
Thanks Will, I will be putting a fuel press. gauge under the hood and also in the cab. I’ve had pretty good luck on the OEM LP never failing. What I don’t like is in the past the fuel press. was reading 1 to 2psi at the gauge sometimes. I already have a new FFM and pre filter. I’m...
Thanks guys for the input. Yes I did see that pump on there site. Didn’t think it would be that low. Wasn’t thrilled about having to prime the pump if it loses its prime. Quadstar use to sell a different one it had its own bracket and used the oem line fittings. Might have to pull the...
Hi all I’m back on my optimizer install after a long hiatus due to home remodeling. Just in time for the 100 degree temps here in St Louis. Looking to source a lift pump. Was going to go with direct fit one from Quadstar but it isn’t listed on the site anymore. Did anyone find out the psi on...
I searched the GM parts ie GM Parts Giant, GM Whole sale. They are all saying those OEM part numbers only fit 96’ on. Mine is a 95’. I believe they will still work.
Thanks guys for the info. Will the stock trans. lines fit the coolers suggested? Also I have Leroy’s braided steel oil lines that fit the oem oil cooler. I’ll research them. I guess I should of researched them before asking the questions 😎 Thanks again.
Thanks SnowDrift. Very nice and informative post on your build. Isn’t this site great they have a lot of knowledgeable guys on here. Here is my new Optimizer I’m putting in my 95’ Dually. I hope I don’t regret sending it to TSP to do his magic. I am trying to address the heat...
