learning to set timing on with a DB2 IP
In my experience on my 92. the more timing advance the louder the rattle. On cold start, the timing is advanced during high idle and it really makes a clatter. I try to lay off the pedal while its warming up. It's been 20yrs or so since I built the motor, so I found this site to help out on...- 72fj40

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....
On my 92 during cold start with the wait light on, I depress the the gas pedal prior to starting to engage the fast idle solenoid, it also advances the timing until the coolant temp reaches to about 70*.- 72fj40

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....
I just resealed my valve covers because I thought they were leaking badly. I found they were seaping, but the main culprit was the oil sender.- 72fj40
