    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

No. That would be too easy and would have been the responsible thing to have retained. Apparently, according to the guy who took it off, it was 'lost' when removed. So, the material will have to be added a layer at a time and then ground back to shape.

Here's what I got now. RED: M10 Heli Coils with the repair inserts. BLUE: M8 Heli Coils only (As I thought I was doing but....) GREEN: Thread Repair Inserts Only. The top one has yet to be tapped and the 20mm insert installed. I meant to add in the previous post, the spacer is why I chose to...

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Another change I made was getting rid of the "S" intake system. I found this current one in 2009 while visiting the Salt Flats. There's a local shop that was swapping in a 454 for a customer so I bought the upper and lower for $150. Obviously, prices have gone up. My old S intake had a bunch...

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Thanks Will. Some of the HMMWV intakes I've seen attached to the heads with bolts dropped in vertically. I know some are also like ours but, hate to take the chance on a listing without pictures and I have a solution to things.

Thank you and I greatly appreciate the offer. It would be a good fit for me as I don't use an FFM anymore either. However, hang on to it and perhaps sell it on E-Bay for a quick $200+ as this one will be fine now and I've got a solution to the other one.

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

I do have a back up intake that, internally, is nicer given it is the extrude honed unit I got from 635 many years ago. Unfortunately, it has a broken ear at the #7 runner. I noticed that one of the middle holes is also Heli Coiled. The mystery of my AWOL M8 Helicoil is gradually getting...

    Lower Intake Thread Repair Solutions.

Decided to start a separate thread since this 'what did you do to your 6.5' episode is getting drawn out. So, What did I do to my truck's upper intake? Almost FUBAR;d it but, "Hodge Podge for two hundred Alex" and discovered several solutions in order to un boo boo this thing. Issue: While...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

RE: Sludge. BLUF: Heads and rockers are fine and yes, a valve job is in your future but, not because of the sludge. A few years ago I wasn’t running my engine for more than a few minutes every couple of months (chasing what turned out to be valve issues). I happened to remove the CDR assy and...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I know you’ll clean things up regardless but, a magnet would help determine if your rockers are iron or aluminum in the meantime.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

There are seemingly a bunch out there and a lot in Canada ($$$ for shipping I'm sure). What I saw were either 'Call for price' or between 125 for the upper and 250 for the lower and most sites aren't differentiating between the two. The yards I called yesterday are closed until Monday. E-Bay...

I F'd up my thread repair job and am using thread repair inserts to attempt a correction.

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

Don't know about that GP Controller but, earlier you'd asked about a DB2 rebuild company. You might try Classic Diesel Designs in Texas. I understand they're pushing some big plungers in their maxed out units. But, I'm sure they'll do what ever spec you want or is possible. They don't do DS4s...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

According to my search, GM started installing the 6.2 in their line up in 1982. 1981 casting would correct in order to meet production demands.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Finally got around to installing / swapping out the return fuel lines on the injectors. To re-hash, I purchased the Delphi Injector installation kit and the return line hose failed several times on the 5 and 7 injectors. Failed as in split apart. I noticed when replacing the upper intake that...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

No restrictor was used. You're the first one to mention it. Given the OPS port isn't restricted and, so far as I know, the Turbo's Oil Feed Line on the 6.5 isn't restricted given the amount of oil that came out of my old 6.5 engine's port when left open once (no I don't want to discuss it).

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

My engine is a 6.2 N/A 599 block bored 30 over. 6.5 heads. Mine didn’t have ports for either the OPS in the valley or front of the block for turbo oil feed. If the one you’re looking at is the same, you’ll need to make a T-Block fitting for the OPS and Turbo Oil Feed line using the oil port at...

If it turns over and you can at check with compression tester before you drop the money, it could be worth a shot. Won’t know unless you try…“He who dares, wins!”

New Bosch India 6.5 turbo injectors

Caught a couple of typo’s above and the time limit has passed for going in to edit things. Change: “I was a hot mess from these.” To: “I was expecting a hot mess from these” Change: “…it wouldn’t perform in the new body which is, beyond scientific exploration, worth.” To: “it wouldn’t perform...

    Problem: Heavy shudder upon braking

Good to hear it is finally sorted out. Nice to have new stuff out of the box not need adjusting or turning as you thought. Personally, I’ve never been burned so never thought I needed new drums turned and only ever had one set of rotors that required ‘running in.’ ‘There is a season, turn turn...

New Bosch India 6.5 turbo injectors

I helped pop 15 of BigT's yesterday while visiting with Bill Heath after a run down to NV to help recover a DMax. Long story, different thread. Injectors. As far as I can remember from campfire stories, these came from the years when Bosch Germany was forced to have a come to Jesus meeting...
