If the steering box is original, I would replace. I would also replace the steering shaft with one that has a spider joint or u-joint vs the rag joint. All other components of the steering need to be in go shape.

They’re fine. Wife got it aligned after her follow-up with retina surgeon (eye tested 20/40 and should continue to improve). I drove it and the ride is very nice. No more looseness sound going over speed bumps.

Got it corrected. Took me two hours. Now it just needs an alignment.

So I’m pretty sure that Shock Surplus provided me the incorrect front shocks for the 2014 4Runner. You can see the difference in ride height: Before: After:

Upper control arms installed. Had to cut the ball joint off on the passenger side, as the castle nut stripped on me.

Lowers and front coil over shocks installed. Had to cut the passenger side rear cam bolt. Guys in the rust belt typically have to cut all 4.

The buttons flash as if they are sending signal to shift, but no shifting occurs. I tried shifting in Park and then neutral, but when I went back to park with engine on, it buzzes the parking pawl. Had to shut down to get it into park.

Our mechanic in Montana did a test outside the vehicle touching plug posts with power leads and he said that he got nothing. Of course there is a sticker on the encoder which says “testing or operating outside the vehicle could damage the motor.”

Finally got around to replacing the encoder motor in the ‘99 transfer case. Bit of background first. After Paveltolz and I installed the new 6.5 Optimizer, I had installed a new AC Delco encoder motor, but it did not work and left the parking pawl buzzing when I tried to put it back into park...
