Most all real holsets are boost controlled, the 40 is set around 20psi, so the assembly rod has to be adjusted, it's easy to get it close on a bench with a air hose and regulator, then fine tune it in the truck. The boost pressure way won't move the arm like a spring does, that's why holsets...

Well I'm betting your spring is too strong or not strong enough... Home made isn't always better. Keep running those numbers at a easy cruise and you will have more problems... I'd spend a few dollars and buy a turbo master with the correct spring and the correct geometry to start with... Or...

@n8in8or , what air pressure are you using? Are you using sand? My needs are a bit different, I only use 100-120 grit brown aluminum oxide media @ 35 psi on aluminum parts and 45 psi on iron... I have to strip any painted or coated parts to prevent contamination first.

One of the reasons I have a run stand, I at least prove they run and don't leak, and I can run them as long as I want to.

The best way to look at the added cost to make certain mods vs the cost of said mods is, how long would you like to keep the truck, is the body, frame, etc worth keeping to you. If you hope to go to a newer truck down the road you may feel just keeping it running is all you need... Some of us...

Kobelco knew the motors they were using, hino, didn't and couldn't pass emissions from before they ever built the plant in SC. They always thought they could get a waiver but that fell through so they closed the plant... Kobelco is half Japanese half Chinese...

The (-1 ) at the end tells me it's not for our motor... They made many of these tools for many motors...
