Figure which wire is causing the shut down, might be a loose or bent pin. Could be a broke wire too. Most people run the #5 resistor. I read that without a resistor eventually the engine will shut down and not restart. Dont remember what the solution to that is.

If You got plenty of room then try gluing that rectangular piece into the non busticated fob, put it together and see how it does. Or even a little tape to hold it in place temporarily.
