Used Duralast Golds in my diesel burbs and have them in the Beast. They last about four (4) years. Looking at installing an Optima as a second battery in the Avalanche gasser with an isolator or 200 A relay.
Hello SmithvilleD,
I share the same concerns but compared to the off-the-shelf paper filter media products, I could only do better with the non-bypass 20-25 micron washable media using synthetic oil. With the dual filter set up, I could install a Baldwin 2-5 micron parallel to the stainless...
They were sold by ChrisCo (now defunct), billet aluminum, stainless steel mesh 20~25 microns absolute. I believe PurePower and SystemOne continue to sell their own. I was fortunate enough to buy several directly from Chris, the president/inventor when he gave me a discount ($85 ea.) fter I...
In NYS, if it's a diesel less than 8500 lbs., just a $10 safety inspection (brakes, lights, wiper blades, headlight aim, etc.). I always ask for new wiper blades so the shop makes SOME money off me...
It worked great, much better than I expected, especially after I replaced the 12 "Heavy Duty" Bosch-type relays with "continuous duty" real ones (see attached pic). On a warm summer day, in NYC traffic, one fan was enough to drop the coolant temperature enough to turn off the thermostatic...
Wooohooo!!! Thank you!!! I redid the pins for the reverse bulbs and brake bulbs, but left the parking/turn/hazard bulbs alone. My biggest concern was getting a ticket for a faulty brake lamp, so a dimly lit one when the 27W filament breaks might just buy me time if noticed by a LEO. Sweeeeet...
Hello great white,
I used PermaCool products (remote dual filter mount and block adapter... I can dig up the part numbers if you need them), stainless steel braided hose from Summit and home-made bolted-brackets to attach the remote filter mount onto the AC bracket (had I finished wiring the...
I measured mine ten times and cut once... I wasn't about to weaken the cross member supports. 4" thin abrasive disc on the Makita angle grinder. Patrol car pulled up and two officers watched me plunge cut the second hole. Cleaned as well as I could, then liberally sprayed (three coats) with...
I use them for gauges and for the connections to energizing relay banks. Just make sure the gauge (they come in 16, 14, 12 and 10 gauges) can handle the current draw (don't know what gauges you will be installing).
See attached application (using half of harness connector)...
This used to confuse me but after some thinking...
If you introduce more resistance in a circuit, less current will flow, so less power would be available to the load (in this case, the starter solenoid/motor) -- symptoms will include slow or no crank, solenoid clicking away, starter motor...
Hello Tim,
250k on front brake pads? That's amazing. I bet you use your train horns to slow the truck down...
Just had to replace the front disks/pads on the gasser (80,500 miles). No can turn/grind OEM discs -- gotta replace them. Went with drilled-n-slotted rotors from Brake...
G'Day Matuva,
I just read your post. Read what I just posted, especially the notes at the bottom:

I ordered RockAuto & GM p/n 88962315 (encoder motor sensor assy) and p/n 15136039 (t-case pushbutton switch). I think the...
I just recently filed a complaint with the Office for Defects Investigation (ODI) for my 06 Avalanche's transfer case shifting into neutral from 2WD-Hi while doing 55 mph in top gear/OD. After coasting to a stop, I had to turn off the engine, turn it back on, switch to 4WD-Hi (to clunk-engage...
Have you considered replacing the engine-driven fan with a dual-electric-fan setup? You can wire them to turn on at the same time or sequentially (by using separate thermostatic switches set to different threshold temp settings). A few after market kits available, or DIY. Happy to post a link...
So if I understand this, when the mod is done correctly, the lamp will "always" be lit by one filament when the other burns out. I just replaced one rear brake lamp. Will redo all of the 3157s on the truck. Thanks for sharing!
It would be a broken tooth (or more) on a gear, similar to what happens to cheaply made ratchet wrenches.
Like ak diesel driver, I've had my (Craftsman) beam type for over 15 years, still works.
Regards,
Franko
If you live in an area where the temperature drops below 45 degrees F, you would have less headaches and pay less for towing if you ran a dual tank system, i.e., start/stop the engine using dino-diesel. You can even use the stock fuel tank for your WVO and a smaller tank for the dino-diesel...
Hello Bill,
Digging into my memories, again...
1. Disconnect the phone from the PC.
2. Turn off phone.
3. Reboot the PC.
4. Start or run the software on the PC.
5. Connect the cable to the phone, then connect the other end of cable to PC.
6. Turn on the phone.
Does the PC recognize...
