Hello Bill,
The smaller-than-CD disks will only work in tray-load-type CD-DVD drives, i.e., plastic tray that slides out for the disk to be loaded, then slides in for the disk to be mounted/read.
Most tray loaders have outlines for 4-3/4" diameter disks (CDs and DVDs) and an inner outline...
Hahaha! Dated myself there, didn't I? IMHO, DOS was EXTREMELY more stable than Win3.x but less flexible even with Win3.x' early clumsiness.
Let's say you have a legacy parallel-printer attached to an older PC that runs a DOS program and you want to print to another printer on the...
When you, initially, installed the I/O card, it assigned LPT3 to the I/O card's LPTx/printer port because specific resources (e.g., IRQ, I/O address) were already allocated to the onboard LPT1/printer port. The I/O card's LPTx/printer port is, most probably, jumpered by default to the same IRQ...
Boot up the PC into the BIOS.
Disable the onboard LPT port.
Disable any other I/O port you do not use (LPT, COM1, COM2, etc.)
Save the BIOS settings.
Reboot the PC.
See if the Device Manager screen displays what you want to see... post a pic like before and let's take it from there...
Set up a LAN (local area network) with two PCs: #1 new mobo PC and #2 older mobo PC to which the HP Deskjet is connected via parallel cable. Save yourself connectivity headaches and install a stripped down version of XP Home on the #2 PC (I'll post a list of what you'll need in XP if you're...
This is excellent information for folks who are considering to DIY... like me. The best information was about the shim packs. The pump is relatively easy enough to build and the gauge easy enough to source. Thank you!

Hey Pepp,
The biggest bang for the buck upgrade to "increase speed" is to replace the processor. Thus, get the fastest processor with the most cache/L2 memory you can afford.

Hello Justin,
Just sent you a PM.
When you boot/reboot your PC, the BIOS information comes up first which starts the copy of the Basic Input Output System into your PC's memory. This, in turn, starts to load your OS (e.g., Windows, Linux, etc.). Just before/as the Windows logo pops up...
Hello Mike,
If your data is more valuable than your hardware, then, backing up your data is a MUST but you can simplify the process somewhat, but also prepare you for worst-case scenarios.
You can simplify your backups by creating a "separate" partition on your hard drive and storing your...

I believe the 1" to 3" H2O scale would be sufficient for your purpose -- we're talking about low pressure differentials (much like ventilation systems). The question, then, is where to situate the ends of the hoses because you want to measure pressure differences... differences where? One end...
