Had a rainy day so I spent some time in the shop. Made a light bracket, combination chuck key holder, for the lathe. Also got a keyless chuck for the drill press and mounted one of my vice's on it. Used it to drill the holes in the bracket.
Just for clarification there is not a bypass filter that will work in place of the main filter, it's too restrictive. Bypass filters are always an additional filter that just samples a part of the overall oil flow.

On my backhoe after you push the lever forward to lower the bucket you push a little harder and it'll detent into the float position. It will stay there until you pull it to raise the bucket . Depending on the shape of the bucket ( mine has sort of a squareish back ) you can play with the bucket...
Sounds like a lot of hand work for someone who has a box grader. Establish the grade where your tractor tires will run, either with dirt or 2xs and use the box blade. You can cut lower than the tractor tires if needed. All your establishing is the slope
This is all made from dead standing trees. Might shrink some but not much. Biggest reason for the "slotting" as you called it is to keep things from twisting. It shouldn't do much of that either but no kill like overkill. Lol
