Nice piece for owners that just want to buy it and be done. Good to see it available individually.
I don't have any heat issues. It gets cold here too.

I'd definitely look into Leroy's new upgrade kit. 0.5psi under load while dragging around a Hummer is no good. You want to maintain 5psi even under the highest demand. Trust me.
And that 0.5 psi will turn into 0 or even worse after a few months when the EP158 starts to slowly die.
Get a 5521s spec pump for ULSD if you can and don't go reman. If the truck is in good condition it should be worth it. Note you'll need the proper electronic tools to set timing upon replacement. These are EFI diesels starting in 94, thus the PMD.

Stepper motor issues would cause both as well but should throw a code for a timing mismatch. Hard to tell without scan tool or data logging

Any more smoke or does it seem like a lack of fuel issue? Could be as simple as a bad batch of fuel since it was running so well till now.

And the usual cause is a weak lift pump or other fuel supply issue that caused extra stress on the IP to wear it out so go over everything.

You are seeing the same thing I'm now wondering. The 7 blade hx40 wheel would help but this setup is no slouch. I have a 6 blade HX40W on now with the tune tweaked to match.

Tossed in a stainless scrubber earlier and added the missing 4.5" intake clamps. Will have a few hundred miles on it this week and will update after. Thanks all.

I connected my setup to the intake today to see how it does. I'll look for some scrubbers to add inside the can until I find a reasonable provent.
Got it close to 12 o clock orientation

They make a LED for this specifically for the Bosch VP44 equipped Dodges that the FASS DDRP pump is for. Because it has a min inlet pressure requirement like the DS4. It's cheap too if you don't have a gauge.

My only gripe about flow on fail is that none of my gas vehicles do it so why does it matter if my diesel allows it once I get a reliable pump on it? That's how I came to look past it but I do run far less miles than some may on their 6.5.
