    RockAuto Code

New one. Expires 2/7/25. Should come in handy for a Valentine's gift for that special someone. Nothing says, "I love you" like a new set of brake pads. 289932399253246176

That work station is super cool! I haven't seen one of those before. You're getting a nice collection of tools/equipment.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I was able to find a number on the old seal, but it didn't help me with cross-referencing. I'm not sure the goons at the local Napa would be very helpful in trying to cross-refence this seal - it used to be Napa was where you went for better parts and service around here, but it seems they've...

Yeah, I just used a 2-jaw puller to remove it. It came off pretty easily. There's another version of the tone ring that has a smooth bore instead of the splined one like mine - I imagine that one is tougher to remove. The smooth bore tone ring is a little more readily available, but...

Today I got the transfer case assembled….at least as much as I can. Here’s what I did for the case saver mod: Well first, here’s the problem - the oil pump is held stationary with this stamped sheet metal bracket that is captured by bosses in the aluminum case. In theory it’s a fine setup...

Awesome. I’d love to have a machine tool room some day.

Looks like a great room. I can’t recall, what did you say you’re using it for?

This is a BW4401. Parts are fairly rare. There’s a metal tab on the oil pump that holds the housing stationary while the shaft rotates inside of it. That tab can either rub a groove in the case and/or the case rubs the end of the tab off - either way, the housing then rotates so it is no longer...

You got me thinking about the shifter guides……while they look good, they may be getting brittle with age, so I found a place that sells them and I ordered a set.

Chain looks fine and much to my surprise so did the guides on the shift forks. The case and oil pump anchor tab didn’t even have much wear, so this must have been a replacement unit at some point because the truck has over 200,000 miles. I’m going to do a case saver mod to prevent future damage.

2008 trans that was first built for Frankensquare is now converted to 4wd and ready for use in this truck. I got the transfer case disassembled, cleaned and inspected. All hard parts are good thankfully. I have new seals on order as well as a new 4wd switch because I was having issues with...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I’ve made some progress on the transmission front. I got the trans from the black truck disassembled so I could harvest the 4wd output shaft. I tore down the trans I built for Frankensquare last year and swapped the output shafts. I reassembled the geartrain and checked clearances - they...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Finally getting back to this one. With the red truck basically finished, I was able to pull this one into the barn again. Today I pulled the front clip off and then yanked the trans and transfer case. I’m coming to realize that when I did the plumbing and wiring I focused more on the...

    2013 Escalade ESV w/ SLP TVS2300

My brother let me borrow the stock lug nuts and a center cap off of his 2013 Silveraydo so I could see if something like that would work with the PPV wheels. It worked perfectly! In fact, it looks like I wouldn’t have had to cut the lugs, even without the spacer. Oh well. So I started looking...

Thank you, but I would never claim to be a master of anything, I just try to learn and get better anytime I do anything. For bodywork, I just started trying. I bought a 72 Chevelle in 1996 that needed some rust and collision repair. My dad had a little experience so he taught me some things...

    1996 K2500 “Krovvy”

Thanks guys! I dug out the hood and put it on. I need to find a new one - this one has a rusty substructure and dents - better to just replace than repair. I might have another good one to use, but I’d rather find another red one. Now it’s done until dad is ready to drive it in the spring -...

    1996 K2500 “Krovvy”

I got the pipes finished up the other night and finished painting them today. I managed to raise the pipes just shy of 2 inches. I would have liked to get them a little higher still, but it was challenging just to do what I did with all that was going on in that space. Good news is the spring no...

    1996 K2500 “Krovvy”

Monday night I was going to make the exhaust tips. My dad had bought some 2.5” stainless slip-on tubing, and the idea was I would cut them to length and clamp them on once the bed was installed. I slid them on and realized I was very unhappy with how far from the bed that the pipes were. Though...

    1996 K2500 “Krovvy”

Got the rear bumper and the trailer plug wiring hooked up. Also got a couple other odds ‘n’ ends done. The punch list is getting really short.
