    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I forgot to share that I tried one other new thing for this painting session - a light on my spray gun. WOW. What a huge difference that makes when spraying. So much easier to see what you’re doing, especially when painting pieces like these with a bunch of nooks and crannies. I won’t be...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I got everything painted this weekend. It took just over 2 quarts of KBS Rust Seal and just under 1 quart of KBS Maxx. This is the first time I had used the KBS Maxx on anything. I chose it because in addition to needing to topcoat the Rust Seal to make it UV stable, I also needed to...

Oh no, not addicted. I would have cleaned all of this stuff up anyway, it was just a lot nicer having the sandblaster to do it with. I'm very ready for this part of the project to be over.....cleaning and painting sucks.

I assume you're referring to the steering gearbox? I debated about how I wanted to tackle that. I ultimately decided to sandblast it, but be careful to not direct the blast directly at the input or output shafts. I'm also going to replace the seals, which should further mitigate any...

I have a couple days of hanging, prepping and painting ahead of me.

    2004 Yukon XL 2500 LBZ

I thought about the Hummer mounts, but for the money it seems smart to just go all the way with the Atomic Fab ones. I have plans for putting some more herspers into it, so I want to have the added insurance.

I don't know about the GMT800 motor mounts, but I know the GMT900 mounts, at least the ones on my Escalade are a problem, even on stock trucks. A lot of people swear by the Atomic Fab mounts as a permanent solution. That's what I'm planning to do FWIW.

Can you share a pic of your lighting setup sometime?

The filter unit I mounted to the cabinet is reading 80psi with the gun running. I have been using media from a place about 20 minutes from me. It’s been a while since I bought any new media, but I think it was the 30/60 that I went with...

Thank you for the link. That setup makes sense. I did some searching to see if that was an improvement over the Skat Blast design, and while I didn’t find a direct comparison, it did seem like that is what people are doing to make a cheap cabinet (like a HF unit) perform as well as a Skat Blast...

Interesting, Skat Blast (the company that made this one) makes parts to upgrade Harbor Freight ones. I’ll look into it, thanks.

Over 15 years ago I bought a sandblasting cabinet from work when they decided they didn’t need it any longer. I hooked it up at my old house and it wouldn’t siphon the abrasive, so I set it aside to figure out later. I decided it was finally “later”. I bought some parts to repair it and got it...

Yeah. I’m getting more and more boring as each year passes.

I decided this was a good opportunity to clean up the frame and front suspension since I didn’t do it during the initial build. I’m also going to do a GMT800 brake conversion - the 3500 dually brakes felt fine, but comparing the pad sizes between GMT400 and GMT800, the 800s have a big advantage...

The Michelin LTX is a really nice tire overall, it will be interesting to hear how you like those Toyos in comparison.

It's a great feeling when you can appreciate the results of something you've put a lot of effort into - I think that's rare. A lot of my stuff still isn't where I think it should be and that becomes an annoyance when driving them, and sometimes I realize I've made the vehicle less enjoyable...

Nope, not much at all with this generation. Actually, the biggest thing you’d get from an old dash would be the ductwork.
