That's a nice trailer.
Yeah, the weight rating we will need necesitates a deckover, with a bobtail and ramps to be able to hopefully get the forklift on without high centering the damn thing.
Pretty much any trailer is going to be setup for a gooseneck, no? Not looking to get a low-boy semi here. I think we should be able to get farm tags, so we'll see if that works out. Anywhere we go with a load should be within 150 miles of the plant. etc.
Tanner, I'll PM you.
So, long story short, my dad is putting together a broiler chicken operation in NE Iowa/SW Wisconsin. As part of that operation, the company is going to own about 9 semi trailers and the modules/cages that the birds get hauled in. The mods (which hold the cages) get hauled on & off the truck and...
I'd go in the backside with a strong hose with a tight jet-spray nozzle (or better yet, the nozzle I posted in Mike's thread, the Radiator Genie) and rinse as much junk out from the backside as you can.
And like Ferm said, the factory gauge at 210 basically means it's operating at "normal"...
The worst part of the fan shroud is that you can't get in at a good angle to get at the fasteners that hold the top half on. They're the push-pin style and they're just a bitch.
Also, Mike, I bought these a couple years ago at a local farm and fleet store: https://www.radiatorgenie.com/
One has a garden hose hook up to blow water, the other has an air chuck to go on the air hose. They work great for cleaning out our hay equipment too. At least the air one...
Mike, after 300k I'd replace the fan clutch if you're going to dig into the stack. I did ours this spring when I had to do the PS pump, figured I'd replace the belt and clutch while I was in there. Just needs a fan clutch service kit, you can usually rent 'em.
Looks like they totally threw out the Common-Rail system and rigged up mechanical injectors. It's Direct-Injection, but it's like a Cummins or old Cat, where it's not a high pressure common rail with electronic timing.
The "full fill" is 13.5 quarts, but that includes the torque converter, cooler and lines, etc. You only actually drain about 8 quarts when you drop the pan and replace the filter. Get 2 gallons and 1 extra quart and you should be fine. Dexron VI (6) is the proper fill for a 2007 4L80E.
