It sounds like the torque converter isn’t all the way back on the shaft. You have to spin it while jiggling up and down slightly while pushing it in. 3 ledges will be felt during install, it sounds like yours is in only 2. Having done hundreds there is still the occasional one that will take...
It’s not regular wire. It is fuseable link.
If you can shorten it up & crimp on a new end, do that. Otherwise you’ll be spending more money than was in the game plan.
Cable ties to hold them out of the way incase they do pop off, and the heat sheilds are the way to go.
That last one was originated by a company and called Tygon. Do searches here and you’ll see many of us tried it over the years. Takes about 70,000 miles but it will fail.
I never tried the sae30r7 on the 1/8” stuff. I would think it needs clamps, but usually spring clamps don’t work for the...
It is federally mandated that all on road fuels in the continental US have oxygenated fuel. The way the extra oxygen is in there is from either ethanol or methanol. Most states, not all, required the labeling of “oxygenated fuel” by percentage- usually 5% or 10%.
Sae7 works but will fail in...
Welcome. It’s very helpful to fill out your signature line with the year, make, model, and any modifications you have done. Mine isn’t the best example, look at several posts to see how people do it.
Welcome. No idea on the specs for the tc. I can’t remember them being the initial cause of failures, usually they were the victim of something else coming apart- but it is possible.
Often fine debris doesn’t get cleaned from the transmission cooler and the debris ruins the new transmission...
Ok, I should have said- there is a torque converter flushing machine. Some transmission rebuild shops have them, and are usually trustworthy of doing it right. But it’s a gamble because you pay the labor and cost of fluid, then if it didn’t flush clean enough they will then recommend buying...
Not trying to be rough but helpful…
Have you ever watched someone plug in a welder extension cord then start climbing out on the diving board to the swimming pool? I mean, besides the above post?
Dude- you are in a world of hurt.
Cleaning out a torque converter doesn’t happen. You can cut...
On that- I have left written instructions with my password so they can sign on here and hummer forum to get help fixing them when the time comes.
Hopefully by then they can take the pebble from my hand😂
Ok, no worries. I would guess Dayco better than dorman but I don’t like either.
You got years on me but no male In my family made 70 since ancient biblical times so you and I are probably on the same exit schedule. If I follow suit with all the others, I get another decade on my feet then a...
Ok good. And yeah, we all get being gunshy of the waterpump mess.
So sad GM did the sbc & bbc waterpump design so good- then abandoned it instead of copying that concept for the 6.2/6.5. That always made me so upset.
Also- I’m gonna jump in on that Dayco balancer.
Don’t.
When my cousins balancer went a little sloppy on him 2 years ago, he stopped over and I helped him swap it. He bought a dayco. I warned him, but he was out of cash & time so we installed it. Then just like most the other aftermarket...
Ok, stirring this back up.
I get the annoying near daily emails from Summit, Jegs, etc. and they have dual 3” exhaust kits on sale and it got me to thinking (a dangerous prospect, I know)…
I’ve mentioned before that long tube headers are proven to increase torque. Also it helps with the...
A picture or three of how the hoses route from the catch can would be good.
We can see the hose from the filler neck to the catch can. Can see a hose from the passenger side valve cover goes under turbo, but can’t see to where.
There has to be something sucking the other side of the catch can...
The smallest amount of oil on exhaust will burn off but smell up a storm the whole time.
Keep an eye on pressure gauge and frequently check oil level after this type work just in case.
Welcome, Looks great.
Please fill out your signature line with the rig and details regarding it. This helps a lot in chasing problems over time.
We can’t see how you get rid of crankcase pressure. In a gasoline engine this would be the pcv valve & hose. Originally on the 6.2/6.5 this is done...
The pulsing you see is from the liftpump- not being a gear driven pump but similar to an actuator ram going back & forth so this will cause pulsing. While it is good to see how bad the pulse is when diagnosing, it is really hard on mechanical gauges & sending units for electrical gauges.
The...
