    79 Chicken

Understand using the 350 if you already have it built. If not, once you play with an LS, it'll convert you. Series started out with great flowing heads with the cathedral ports. Then the next generation L92 heads got even better. I love the aluminum 6.0 in my '09 Pontiac G8 GT. Very easy to...

    Who is robzombie4551 on youtube?

My specific thought on upper coolant temp limit relates mostly to lowering the potential for forming steam pockets (& the associated metal hotspots that happen absent liquid water carrying heat away from those areas) around the IDI chamber & valves - would guess GM's later water pump design...

    Who is robzombie4551 on youtube?

Don't suppose the DMax squirters happen to share enough dimensions to possibly retrofit? I haven't been into a 6.5 with squirters. Many of the other turbo diesel's squirters have the spring/ball in the squirter body & that portion inserts into the oil port. Would be slick if GM/(Izuzu)...

    Who is robzombie4551 on youtube?

It is too bad GM didn't execute the concept of piston squirts well. Solid idea that I'd bet could have eliminated quite a few failures in the back two cylinders. Did all the Optimizer's have provisions for squirters? Did the Optimizer's or the P400's ever add check ball pressure regulators so...

Moving a shop/garage to my house

Nice progress. Making good use of this season's perfect weather for such projects.

1995 Parking brake pedal pad replacement?

I'll see if I can find somebody with one of the rare 2500/3500HD's with a manual trans - and see what their experience is. With a trailer, I wouldn't trust the parking brake alone, unless spot is so level it's not important.

1995 Parking brake pedal pad replacement?

Yep & understand. I want the braking performance with a loaded trailer. Being discs, it'll be acceptable if they just hold my manual trans truck stationary a bit better than the Toronado calipers, which have an even worse mechanical pbrake mechanism. What kind of issues do folks have with...

1995 Parking brake pedal pad replacement?

Agreed. I wonder if there's any advantage or improvement in the later model GMT400's parking brake mechanism? It's getting connected to the newer style 14 bolt out of a gasser GMT800 so operating the pbrake shoes inside the rotor hat. Haven't compared to know if there's notably different...

1995 Parking brake pedal pad replacement?

Yeah, that's looking like the most easily available option. Just a bit of a pita to get at those tabs holding it on. Guess should practice by yanking my truck's old one first. Seems like the parts you gotta be upside down to pull,... at the yard are always somehow facing so they're in the...

1995 Parking brake pedal pad replacement?

Does anybody know a part number for parking brake pedal pad to fit the earlier GMT400's? Most all replacements I find attach via a couple rubber barbs/nipples, thru two holes in pedal pad metal. Guessing that design became std 96 & up. My 95's pedal pad appears to attach to a metal backing...

Keeping glow plug relay wires from turning

I put a little Kopr-Shield on connections like glowplugs & most of the grounds after cleaning up the connections. Won't solve the stud turning the solenoid, but probably reduces the friction trying to twist on the ring connector a bit. Anybody know if typical copper colored anti-seize is...

Making a tube header for the turbo side

,The big factors are surface prep & application. Both of which can be tricky on used, rusty, cast iron manifolds with lots of nooks-n-crannies. I've coated many cast iron & smooth tubular pieces over the years. When doing a long time rusty cast piece, after thoroughly (and I mean thoroughly!)...

    Finally left me stranded

Interesting to learn this about relays. Guessing if the power source, controlling the relay, is a decent quality switch, may not matter as much? Next thought - I've relocated my truck's large B&M stacked plate oil cooler & it will have a 10" fan to ensure/supplement adequate cooling airflow...

Good job on the prep & plan to get going at soonest light. Never know what will happen, but your planning helped deal with the unexpected.

Body lift on 95 6.5TD Suburban

Good to hear it works with a fan. Not a ton of time in modding to fit it there, but hate to waste work time, if it doesn't pan out. Figured the fan would be necessary in that location as I'm adding the stock black air dam to hide frame exposure. My thinking in putting it there is, there might...

Body lift on 95 6.5TD Suburban

Here are a couple more pics of progress on grafting in the DMax IC/rad stack & relocating the B&M 48 plate oil cooler so it's not adding heatload to the A/C condenser or rest of cooling stack. The 3" body lift & 3500HD core support is what allows space to fit the oil cooler there. Will see if...

    Finally left me stranded

Similar to Chevypoor, I ran a switch & relay as a secondary or backup power supply to the lift pump. If/when the oil pressure switch fails, it's an easy way to get going again. Also, for troubleshooting, you have a way to confidently know the lift pump should be running. If you just let the...

Walbro vs. Air Dog type pump

The video is compelling & the way the fuel is poured into the "tank" does ensure some air/diesel mixing. I wonder if the degree of vacuum the stock fuel cap venting mechanism allows... relates to helping entrained air to outgas?

Making a tube header for the turbo side

I've seen datalogs from a turbo drag car that's instrumented to the point the system could show/document how adding exhaust wrap to headers & turbine section impacted things. The notable gain was in spool up. And it wasn't huge, but was consistently there. Once things are spooled up, there is...
