    Block heater question

Yeah, was thinking that - It's been many years back when I was around some older Ford tractors. Was it used to aid vaporizing fuel? Or actually fire it? Seems like I recall a tradename like Thermostart? or something along those lines.

    Block heater question

Think that's the one I've seen on some Ford tractors & I think some combine engine but can't recall which. I'll get a pic of the 7.3 Powerstroke heater. Getting back closer to the original thread subject, I'll get a pic of a marine 120V plug I picked up to mount inside one of the bumper...

    CS-144 Alternator conversion bracket - fitted to 95 6.5

Believe most of the AD244 internals are the same as CS-144 - same performance specs/rotor/windings/bridge rectifier. Could be better cooling with internal fan? Might be the AD244 has an updated rear bearing? I haven't looked closely at the '96-99 truck's alternator mounts. The AD244 has more...

    CS-144 Alternator conversion bracket - fitted to 95 6.5

Just found the blade spec on the web. 1/2" - 14 tpi - 44 7/8" length. The tighter 3" radius took back/forth to widen the kerf a bit with enough pressure on the blade you could begin to feel the blade's spot weld go by.

    CS-144 Alternator conversion bracket - fitted to 95 6.5

I'll need to measure it to be certain. It's the original that came with it. I have some Morse brand blades that I thought should be better quality than saw came with, but original blade is still cutting well. This blade wouldn't quite do that inner radius without step ahead, back, put a bit...

    CS-144 Alternator conversion bracket - fitted to 95 6.5

Don - in doing my research, I started with your post & pictures of cutting the original bracket & rewelding it shifted rearward. I was having difficulty picturing how to modify the face that fits to back of alternator, to use both rear alt mounting points & not impact airflow. I also noted...

    Block heater question

The CDR oil vapor is a good consideration. I'm just finishing up fitting a DMax IC. After all the fabrication time that took, crankcase vent will be road tube until I get to the homebrew vapor coalescer/catch can plumbed I've got the starting system bases well covered: AGM batteries, heavy...

    Block heater question

Agreed these heaters were added to pickup diesels to help with cold start emissions. They showed up on some diesel tractors many years ago - before much concern over offroad diesel emissions; don't know if these were moving as much air as the 6.5?. So I don't know if this heater will output...

    Block heater question

I was given the intake heater/element from a 7.3 Powerstroke. I'm planning to either weld a bung/mount in the 3" IC piping just before the intake inlet, or possibly drill/tap the Peninsular inlet (easier & faster than welding bung into aluminum IC tube) to mount it. Figure the heater needs to...

    CS-144 Alternator conversion bracket - fitted to 95 6.5

Fabricated a rear mount bracket, fitting my '95 6.5, to upgrade from the stock CS-130 to the CS-144 alternator. There are several threads about doing this; thought I'd share what I came up with as well. I wanted something that kept the triangulated support the OEM rear bracket for the CS-130...

    My Shop

I have the exact same setup. That air switch trigger latch (safety measure??) can be a little tricky. Likes to help hold the trigger down when you'd prefer to stop :) Perhaps I don't understand it's function? Thinking that wire catch needs to come off the switch? Traced the cast arbor...

    My Shop

Nice Les! I'll be interested how you like it once welded together. Is it the one to fit the common 20T presses? I've got a 20T but haven't pulled the trigger on a press brake as can access that capability at work. Big fan of SWAG Offroad. Have their Portaband table, Clutter Catcher for fab...

Can the cruise be modified in its operational characteristics?

Believe my '95 high idle operates with speedo showing movement. Haven't tried it above about walking speed, but it happily did that. Picked up a few stray small bales with truck loafing along in the field.

Rotate dash, replace defrost door, hvac flow distribution flap box

I'm not the original poster, but did this job a few months back. If memory serves, I got a small, thin Cresent wrench on the shaft, squeezed in btwn the plastic housing & the pot metal arm's shoulders. Then sprayed down the arm/shaft with Knock-Er Loose penetrant. Gave the shaft several sharp...

    Who is robzombie4551 on youtube?

Is there anything specific you'd like to see? I've taken lots of pictures thru the process. I learned a lot from the DMax IC installs that THEFERMANATOR, THOR, & GJF did. I plan to start a thread on this specific project. Always hesitant to start a thread before project is done. I'm doing...

    4x4 with ignition off?

Thanks. Just found a Youtube video on replacing the actuator on a GMT800 - both original & replacement actuators looked like they didn't have that spacer. Suppose it could be remaining stuck inside, but not a biggie either way, as wouldn't fit with two. Good to know so can source the spacer &...

    4x4 with ignition off?

I have the 9.25 IFS front axle from an '04 2500HD. And planned to swap the electronic actuator over to my truck's original, thermal activated front axle. Did the axles that came OEM with electronic actuators use the metal spacer? Or is the spacer just necessary to retrofit into the older...

    79 Chicken

Nothing wrong with a classic SBC - tried & true. Suppose there'd be a bunch of OEM parts to support SBC in F-body from the Camaro's. I'm a big fan of GM's parts interchangeability. My G8's chassis shares the majority of parts with the 2010-12 Camaro's. That greatly increases the number of...

    Recreation (exercise) apps

I have some barn owls around - evidently they're not quite hungry enough :) Also hear the occasional screech owl (quite aptly named). How does something that small makes such a noise :)

    Recreation (exercise) apps

I've had a fitbit for a little over 3 years now & love it. Regarding the step count tracking, I find it's real value is that the number is an objective benchmark. You can look & know if you'd gotten the amount of activity you intend to. Essentially, it's a bs detector for those days when...
