Realized after your reply that I had a typo in mine hahaha. 4 of my tires are G, the 2 new one's are H.
The H tires are installed up front and the 4 G rated tires are on the rear. F's would be better for my use but haven't found any with that weight rating in the 245/70/19.5 size. Rear axle in...
New tires on the front so all 6 are now newish since the others have about 10k miles. New are load range H on accident. Tossed new pads on the rear axle and cleaned up their sliders since the old ones weren't wearing even. Can't go any bigger on brakes or any smaller on wheels hahaha.
New parts...
Emphasis on the load ratings, my tire size is 245/70/19.5 with 4 load range H and now 2 load range G tires (ordered the G by accident). 4500, 4800 lb rating each as singles.
They are factory on the 3500HD's from the 90's, stock size is 225/70/19.5 but I'm running 245/70/19.5"s (true 33"). Each tire has a load rating about 4,000 lbs and when not towing I'm at 65psi which is about the lowest to go with a safe reputation at lighter weights. Common lighter duty tire...
Will have to drop the hitch into the bed frame as far as possible to get the trailers back to level.
Ride: very smooth, no bucking to or from the trailer when going over bumps including bridges and railroad tracks. Even on roads that are pretty smooth you can still see the hitch compress from...
Air ride hitch raises it about 5", the 5th wheel had 2" of available upwards adjustment so went ahead and collapsed that as much as possible. Trailer will still be sitting 3" higher up front than it did before
Ride improvement for both truck and trailer. The tech has been around on 5th wheels for awhile, air ride or polymer bushings on both the truck and trailer sides of the hitch. Came to goosenecks a few years ago with this option for the truck and a few options on the trailer side. Gen Y makes the...
AC rebuild is delayed a few days but the parts arrived. Have everything but oil/freon ready to be installed.
Little 12 volt air compressor is here along with the new air ride hitch, Cody Cushion. Might be enough adjustment in the toy hauler hitch to deal with the extra height, but not the...
Lol well who knows its future with me. Will admit its towing capabilities are perfect for me, the chassis strength and brakes are excellent for my uses. Being a 6.5 upgrades are available and cheap compared to other engines.
The 3 main issues i have with the truck are top speed, 2wd, and...
Well AC decided its going to be a priority. Compressor clutch pulley decided to lock up which forced a replacement of the AC compressor. Figure since that's new might as well get the system working on my week off from work and ordered new hoses, condenser, electric fan for the condenser, orifice...
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller works very well, rated as one of the best and I've had no issues with mine.
Despite the advertising, keep in mind the Tundra is a 1/2 ton and size the load according to specs for other trucks in that range. Toyota was highly, hopeful, with their towing...
Amazing the difference humidity and altitude play when it comes to feeling the temperature. 15F in northern Utah feels like 40-45F down by the gulf coast in my experience living in Houston, Texas and Destin, Florida. Once you pass 110F-115F though it doesn't matter, it's just damn hot hahaha...
Interesting, missed it when all that was happening. Well T ing off from the heater would work well enough since the filter could be plumbed in before the T, providing filtering capability year round. Then divert to a second cooler in warm months if the temps won't stay down after the upgrades...
Mine must have a 195F thermostat, gets up to 205 but doesn't really try to go over that since the new fan clutch. Even though the HD's have better airflow across the radiator it still needs the cooling system upgrades.
Am considering using a stand alone oil cooler as a secondary radiator. Plumb...
Clarification on the fuel economy update. 13.5mpg with empty trailer attached. First fuel tank without a trailer after the clutch 15.5mpg, next 2 tanks 17mpg. All cruising at 60mph.
Just started working again so will be driving to west Texas every few weeks, about 220 miles each way. Either...
Stock on that. Only engine related mods are a walbro lift pump and no exhaust after the downpipe (meth head hacked up the exhaust, haven't replaced it yet)
