    Transmission overheat trouble

Did you consider that you might have a short somewhere causing the computer to think that the transmission is overheating? If more (TFT) voltage is leaving the TCM I would believe that it would be fooling the computer. Do yourself a favor and reconsider your leanings on replacing internal...

    Transmission overheat trouble

It will be interesting what you can find out. You should have a dedicated hot and a ground going back to the computer. The funny thing is the that the TFT sensor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient thermistor. The hotter the transmission fluid gets the lower the resistance.

    Transmission overheat trouble

kmmccoy Are you referring to the circuit for the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor inside the transmission? Pins G and H go to the TFT depending on the year of the transmission.

    6.5TD motorhome starting problem

Have an assistant crank the truck while you just crack open a high pressure fuel line. If there is a hesitation than pressurized fuel then there is air in the system. You can also try to crank the engine with the fuel return line disconnected and ran into an empt water bottle. If the engine...

where to read up on stuff

The Detroit 6.2 and 6.5 diesel engines were never meant to be tuned because they were inexpensive high compression engines that was churned out by the factory by the thousands. When you do you run the risk of not only head gaskets but everything else like destroying the crankshaft mains in the...

Some small 4L80-E stuff to help you along.

Its all to common to see another 4L80-E transmission die off when they can last longer. They.were at the time were one of the strongest transmissions built for light truck duty. Other than the low/reverse band there were no bands to wear out or adjust and it's computer controlled. If you have a...

    4L80E Harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd

TPS is the best place to start. Proper adjustment using a test block gage .646.

    4L80E Harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd

You are right. No voltage means highest line pressure. The TCM controls that function through variable width to the force motor pressure control solenoid. Higher voltage means less pressure to the clutches. Think of it as a safety mechanism to prevent clutch slippage. Now find out why the...

    4L80E Harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd

Doug There is a reason why your transmission is shifting as hard as it is. The computer might be doing it to protect the clutches.

    Hello to the truckstop.us

Doug It is really good to hear from you again. I hope that all is well with you. I have a new addition to the family. I have been wracking my brain on how to stuff a 6.6 Duramax in it. They say that all things are possible but I don't know.

4L80E transmission cooling line bypass valve

It probably would be more practical to start the truck, put it into drive and increase the RPM to about 1200 with brake modulation and let the torque converter heat up the transmission and continuing to do it until you see the temperature increase.

4l80e shift solenoid b stuck in off position code

Solenoid B stuck in off position. I believe that this could mean that the solenoid will not actuate. I cannot remember how the TCM computer finds this information but I can lead you in the right ball park. If its an electrical problem chances are you can find the problem yourself. Its been a...

4l80e time for a new one

Reflashes are common and commonly done at the dealer. I would recommend just the dealer. Yes you can adjust the shift points however talk to the dealer about it. As quoted from Buddy. I can definitely vouch for what he is saying.
