I just repowered a K2500 Suburban with a new long block 6.5 Optimizer. Paveltolz and I did the install. It cost me approximately $11K. If a shop had done the work, it would have been $20+K. It does run very nice. My alternative was new truck at $60K to $80K which was a big F no for my intended use.
Thank you Paveltolz for hosting me. Glad you finally got to drive the ‘99 after our Optimizer install last August (transfer case was stuck in neutral, so we couldn’t drive it). I’ll some minor things to work on, but hopefully I am mostly fishing. The 2nd leg of the trip to Montana was uneventful.
Changed the oil on the ‘99 with the new 6.5 Optimizer at 2300 miles since the change at 500 miles. Headed up to Montana this weekend and did not want to go past 3000 on this oil change. Truck is running great.

Marty your reman IP worked for me during my brief test runs. At worst it is some sort of seal causing the problem. The hard components should be fine. Do not condemn it.
Circled in red should be your incoming fuel line to the lift pump. The o-ring here was always damaged with advanced age. The other fitting is your return line. I replaced both with AC Delco, which will cost you $200+, but you could just try new o-rings which you can get at Napa for < $10.
