    question about american full rigs..

When we were hauling the big overhead cranes and trolleys to the VAB building at Cape Kennedy and for the space shuttle hangers we would all stage at the Kennedy Space Center. A very impressive site of maybe 10 or more great big loads on the south end of the very large parking lot. A 4 axle T800...

    Project 350HP update

Just a few of our "little" hills here in the Northwest. Those were built to check out coolings systems!

    Project 350HP update

That will make people quit bad mouthing the 6.5l! That other grade was heading west out of Vantage up to the top of Ryegrass, another very long grade.

    Project 350HP update

That is part of the plan. Nothing like a little 5 mile uphill grade to check out the cooling system. Probably going to hook up to his car trailer, load it, and go up the hill loaded.

    Project 350HP update

Thanks Matt! Had a long talk with Bill today and I will be at his shop next week. Bill and Todd will do a complete check on the systems to make sure everything is in correct working order and performing the way it is supposed to perform. Bill is wanting dry weather, hmmm, I wonder if he has...

    question about american full rigs..

Then there are states, mostly east of he Rocky Mountains, where it is legal to carry even more weight on the US (State) highways than you can carry on the Interstate Highway system. And a lot of truckers complained about filling out their log books!

    question about american full rigs..

Your English is better than my Norwegian! Here in the US 80,000 is with 5 axles. 105,500 is with 8 axles in Washington and a few others. We use lift axles also but in front of the drive axles on freight trucks. Some dump trucks have a lift axle on the rear under the lift gate. The most I've...

    question about american full rigs..

I believe 'haakon' is talking about "Big" Rigs, Semis! I my driving experiences, most of the rigs I drove had in line 6's. Mack had a couple of good V-8s. Early Detroit 2 stroke 318 V-8s and later 8V92's. A 3408 Cat was one early power house. One log truck I drove for a few years had a...

    ATT for christmas

The area I will be driving is just about at sea level, both ways! Not really much change in elevation but I'll be checking my altimeter along the way. Sent the propane system to make sure it is working correct. Asked how much propane I will be using because I had heard of these large ratios...

    ATT for christmas

Not sure of the area where you live but there are a few little hills on I-5. A few hills in Washington, and a few longer hills in southern Oregon. Over the Siskiyou Summit, a little over 3,000 feet, into California and a few more little hills for the next 100 miles. From Redding, Ca. south to...

    ATT for christmas

The results of WMI and propane were already published in MaxxTorque quite a while back, but not in combination! Does WMI and propane work together for better milage, don't know yet? Will my engine/pickup get good milage with the marine injectors and GL-4, don't know? Will it climb a...

    ATT for christmas

Going to Ventura next month then onto Pamona for the Winter Nationals. Empty weight, full of fuel, is 7,500. Not pulling a trailer, just driving. Going to see just what kind of milage I get on the trip down. BUT I will be using the Heath/Snow WMI kit and the Heath propane injection kit. After...

If I would of been thinking correcty I would of done the Cummins swap when I my engine went sideways. And I would of put a manual trans in it at the same time!

Big Rigs. What do you prefer

Had thought about teaching years ago, was even offered one, but now I just sit back and enjoy the pension money. All in all driving the log truck in the high mountin roads was the best job ever. The pay was terrible but the dangers of that job made it a lot of fun. The big beams were a lot of...

Big Rigs. What do you prefer

Just noticed the post about big rigs! After many years I had to give up my CDL, bad truck wreck! Started driving log truck on the Olympic Penn, in Washington State in 1967 after I turned 18 in a 59 butterfly hood KW with a 262 and a 5 and 4. Moved to a 71 Pete with a 335 and 5 and 4. Left that...

    ATT for christmas

I have the Heath exhaust system but done a little different. At the end of the muffler I had a 4" Y pipe welded to it. Then 4 inch duals out each side with 5 inch tips. A lot of work but it looks good.

    6.2 vs 6.5 RPMs

For quite a few years I drove a turboed-supercharged 318 Detroit 2 stroke dump truck. It was called a 350 horse 318. And I still have hearing problems because of it!
